RE: 2022 ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup
The ICC in an effort to accelerate the game brought in a slow over rate penalty in T20I cricket. The slow overrate in T20 Internationals results in a fielder less outside of the 30-yard circle for the remaining overs of the innings. It’s an in-match penalty when the bowling team fails to complete the innings by a stipulated time.

To stop getting a penalty teams have started to put backroom staff around the outside of the boundaries. Austraila have done this and have been followed by India.

Never really understood how this issue became the #1 concern for the ICC?? Other issues around fair and equitable distribution and opportunity should really be the things that occupy what is now their limited role.

^ My guess would be TV money. Can’t have a game running 10 minutes late and spoiling the TV schedule can we?

RE: 2022 ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup
^ I watched an edited version of the pre match press conference with Jos Buttler, and - in fairness to him - in response to the usual ' it is only ireland....an easy win then Jos (or I assume that was the nature of the questions) he said that they wont take Ireland for granted. After the Sri Lanka match, I doubt that England have much to fear.
The wider point though was that Buttler took the view that T20 brought the teams closer together, and made it less of a certainty. I would respectfully disagree - particularly when it comes to Ireland - as I have said before, and I wondered whether he had taken notice of the previous times Ireland had gone on to win, which were in the 50 over competitions. I doubt they will add to their tally tomorrow, even allowing for the fact that England's spin threat is not of the same order as Sri Lanka posed.

RE: 2022 ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup
England started poorly with the ball, but dragged it back well, at 103-1 in the 12th over, 180+ was on the cards. Way too much short bowling, which opened up boundary options in the powerplay. Ireland used the dimensions of the field well with lots of 2s & 3s on offer. A stop-start situation with the rain didn't help, coupled with an empty ground by comparison to the India Pakistan sell-out.
