Who ruined the channels?

I think the point is that society has moved on. It was old fashioned when it was going strong and these days it's dead. Lusting after strippers isn't a topic of conversation for the dinner table or at school.

I've replaced S66 and Co with a couple of other things. Firstly I write for Guinness Is Smiley where me and another bloke are putting up articles about the BBC's two John le Carre adaptations starring Alec Guinness. Secondly I play journalist writing on social media about The Surfrajettes who are, I'm sure, going to be the next big thing.

I expect lots of you read other forums and dabble on the interweb yourselves and we probably don't need the channels as much as we used to. I still keep the two BS channels on my EPG for old time's sake but I can't remember the last time I watched it for more than 30 seconds.

I do think that we men have lost something though. Our womenfolk have got Strictly and all those cooking and reality programmes and endless soaps. I'd have been happy with a not very porn kinda magazine show on S66 but I suspect that they wouldn't have been able to find a business model for it. Apparently that's the type of model that you need these days.

Depending on how you define such a show (output??) I would join you in showing interest in that!

I'd add two minor factors not on ryuken's list btw.

1. The activist led thing of recent times that says we should all express distaste for all forms of sex work work and, indeed, its very existence. (Even though this is typical British hypocrisy given porn use is, by any measure, through the roof.) Such dodgy intolerance just leads to more babes wanting to hide their naughtiest content from society's gaze.

2. Lack of competition between operators. No competition for market share means no impetus to try anything different coming from that direction.

The short answer to the OP is all the factors listed in some way or another.

The long answer would take too long even for me, I would be here till Christmas 2098 typing and exhaust several thousand keyboards.
So I refer all honourable ladies and gentlemen to my posting history across a multitude of threads instead .

That is a major issue i would agree, borne of too many seeing others get their fingers burned in setting up channels, and ultimately seeing them flounder

Poor management and an Army of greedy & lazy staff.

The shame is that I honestly believe that there's room for a multi platform service to suit all
TV shows like the old golden years fueled by callers eager to get that unique thrill that a good call gives
Internet services for the pervecam/privates side of things
All it takes is for the talent and producers to be willing to do it with conviction

Maybe it's too late and the jigs up... But I'd love to see them try

I forgot to mention the negative effect that Onlyfans, Wishlists and CashApp has had on the channels too.

Onlyfans - monthly subscription fee and additional PPV content.

Wishlists - buying gifts like TVs and computers.

CashApp - paying for meals and drinks.

There is no need for them to put on a good FTA show because a deluded fan will buy them Starbucks and a laptop whenever they ask.

They can also churn out any old rubbish on Onlyfans and get paid for it too.
