Technical Forum?

Admin - now that the forum's expanding and you're creating new sub-forums I've been wondering whether it'd be a good idea to have a technical sub-forum?

I've seen and been involved in quite a few threads where people need tehcnical advice - topics such as how to join files, what software to use for capturing web-streams. And there are a few technical topics that I'd like to discuss at some point including:

- What methods/hardware etc.. others use to transfer their sky+ recordings to their PC
- Mac orientated discussions
- Aspect Ratio issues
- Software for editing video

Anyway, if you agree then great, otherwise no problem, will begin to post some questions/discussion topics in this sub-forum instead...

i heed help converting ivr files to avi.

i have hours of footage recorded from the cellcast livecast webstream.
none of the software i have recognises the file format.

smcgill - no idea what and ivr file is. Are you on a Mac? And if so have you tried converting using streamclip - just check on the net and it may work.

What app did you use to record the stream?

Also in time how about a V.I.P part for members with so many posts or so much good rep. That way people can upload videos without the law coming down on them

I wonder whether another option is to create a system whereby only members who've made 'x' amount of posts can see attachments of links. Of course this can lead to a huge amount of shitty posts being made on the forum.

In terms of the law, the member called 'Sarah' is effectively the law in as far as she works for an organisation that owned some Kelly Bell photos that were posted, came here to request their removal and has now become an active member and built up a rep. I think if they so wanted to, 'the law', whether its the owners of content from the babe channels, other producers or even Ofcom would make the effort to post and gain rep in order to keep tabs on what's getting posted etc...

Apparently there is no application that will convert these files. But there is a thread here which suggests some work-arounds for converting ivr files.

thanks for the link mate, but i had tried most of the things before.
if the video is over 30 mins long, you cant do anything with it!

So you can't even cut them up?
Does that mean the only answer is to not record anything more than 30 mins?
