RE: The Ashes 2009
Could be difficult if we don't get amongst them in the morning they are likely to reach a big total and look to bowl us out in the last day & half. Unfortuately we are rather reknowed for our batting collapses but we do have a better tail than in recent years.

Still at work so have not seen any play today but our bowlers averages do not appear to be too bad. Lets hope Swanny & Monty can start to get some to turn because i feel that is the only way we will dismiss them cheaply.

With regard to KP (i am a fan of his), he must start to realise when playing a 5 day test you do not play 20/20 style or one day cricket. He was completely at fault for trying to sweep outside the line of the off stump, he was in a position to cover drive not sweep.

Come on boys a few beers tonight and lets bowl some bouncers in the morning we don't want Ponting shouting from the rooftops about us Poms.

RE: The Ashes 2009
its gonna end in a draw anyways so let punter n kat get their runs now, and hopefully their runs will dry up when it matters Big Grin.

To be fair to KP it wasnt really a 20/20 shot, it was a shot he was playing all day.
For all his negative press, remember he's the only "english" player averaging over 50. Mind u KP always does everything for himself, u only have to look at the way he sold South Africa out for a career.

Is any else getting fed up wit the constant mention of 2005 ashes? FFS since then we've done fuck all!! We've only won 1 test series against a proper test team. Not to mention we lost to the aussies 5-0 during that time. We've gone from potential number no1 team to the worst of the serious test playing teams. Winning 1 series means nothing considering we didnt kick on. The way the commentators go on, u'd think we won the world cup! Giving them the MBE's was the worst idea.

The bowling 2day was lethargic, lacked any creativity, rarely saw the slower bounce or slower ball. Disappointing day overall.

the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist

Also you have to remember its the England and Wales cricket board so hosting a test match in Cardiff in my opinion is a good one.

I agree that Wales should get their fair share of test matches and I think they've done a terrific job with the stadium but the pitch is pretty awful; slow, low and not a result pitch. The problem is that the bosses want to ensure that they get 5 days revenue from the test, fair enough but the quality of cricket and excitement generated is compramised as a result. Also I was disappointed with the atmosphere today, despite the barmy army's best efforts, the rest of the crowd didn't get going at all.

there are two reasons why I feel it was a bad decision to play in wales. firstly; Glamorgan offered a £3.2m gurantee to the ecb for the right to stage the test match, so as you have stated It is in Glamorgans interest to make sure the match last as long as possible and you cant blame them - £3.2m is a lot of money for Glamorgan to recuperate!

secondly; There is not a single welshmen in the team. You only have to see the way the welsh behave towards in the six nations rugby that there is little love lost between us, and for the ECB to expect the welsh to passionately cheer on 11 english men is totally unrealistic. So the response is at best bravo bravo, followed by polite applause when England do something impressive rather then an earth shattering roar, It does nothing to inspire the players.(good luck to anyone trying to get the welsh to sing along to God save the queen, and Jeresulem lol) As a result it is a real slog for the players to come through tomorow, rather then an inspiring challenge. The only way our team are going to feel charged up all day tomorow, if things dont go our way early on; is if Strauss shows Churchill like leadership qualities because we are not going to benefit from a formidable twelve man like we did in 2005. All I can promise you is blood sweat toil and tears tomorow, and that just for us let alone our players .Sad

I hope England get off to a good start,if the pitch plays like yesterday we could still be watching the Aussies batting tomorrow night!
