Car decisions
Okay I have just passed a big course at work and my pay has more than doubled, in light of this I now wish to buy a wicked car. My initial choice is the Mazda RX-8, I can get a great price on one of them and the insurance is not unmanageable (bearing in mind I am not even 22 yet with no insurance in my name up to this point so insurance is a problem atm). The Focus RS looks shithot but the waiting list is apparantly a year so that is a problem. Then the other choices are the Nissan 350z, Lotus Elise/Europa, Vauxhall VRX8 and the Volkswagon Golf, but each have slight problems with them that stops them being perfect. Also bear in mind I am not a fan of the TT and all Mercedes/BMW (The ones within what I can afford anyway). I have always loved the RX-8 from the moment I first laid eyes on it, it is one sexy car and very practical. So do you guys think I should get an RX-8? Or one of the others? Does anybody here own any of the cars mentioned?

I can't offer you advice on any of those other cars, but from the way you're talking it sounds to me like you really want that Mazda - if you can afford it, I'd say go for that Smile

RE: Car decisions
Yeah I went down to the dealership and booked a test drive for tomorrow today. I spent HOURS searching the net and came very close to getting a Lotus Europa instead but the insurance was just obscene, everything just leads me back to my initial choice of the RX-8 so if the test drive goes well tomorrow (which it should, I have not heard one bad thing about the way the RX-8 drives) then I will have my dream car very soon. Well my number 2 dream car but unless I win the lottery then the R8 is gonna remain just a dream.

RE: Car decisions
My friend bought one of those last year. The only gripe i would say is when reversing the parking sensors make a crappy high pitched noise heard outside the car. Either Mazda 'cheaped out' and didn't install decent ultrasonics or it's a 'warn pedestrains' thing. Either way it sounded rubbish. Most any other car with such things doesn't make any audible sound. unless your driving a smegging dumptruck.

Other than that it's a nice car dude. As Debs says, if you really like it you should definately go for it.

RE: Car decisions
Well how did the test drive go?
Personally I'd suggest you take the 350z for a spin as well before you make a choice as I find it the better drivers car, either way though they are both good cars. As for the Euro crop, well not my thing but I'd probably err towards the VRX8 if I had to even if the RS had no waiting list.

Having said that personally for that kind of cash I'd try to find a used NSX Tongue

I don't even know who I am so you'll forgive me if I ask 'Who the f**k do you think you are?!'

RE: Car decisions
I didn't take it on a test drive because of the fucking monsoon the night before and I didn't want to drive it on a soaking road for the first time. Did talk about payment options in there though, if I want it used I could get one tomorrow but I am going to save up for a few months and (in all likelihood) get a brand new RX-8 R3.
