help with dvd recordings

hi, i bought a new video - dvd recorder and yesterday i put a dvd+r in and recorded some really old clips of babestation and sportxxx and i thought great, then i took the disk out and put it in my pc and nothing, i went to my computer, clicked on dvd drive and nothing happened it says the disk is empty so please help

I think you have to finalize the disc first.

lol it's a new thing your doing so you're not useless you just didn't know

If you use DVD +RW discs, you dont need to finalise them and you can reuse them after transferring to pc.

could it be that im using a dvd+r disk when my pcs hard disk is dvd-r,

Modern computer dvd drives handle both types +R and -R.
I have to finalise my DVD +R discs otherwise my computer does not see them.
Thats why I use RW discs.

Could be they need finalizing as mentioned, although I'd expect the DVD recorder to tell you they needed finalizing when you tried to eject the disc as most prompt as a warning

Could also be the dye type on the media. Unfortunately there are many different dyes in use and they vary in how good they are and whether they can be read on a greater or lesser range of drives. Taiyo Yuden are considered probably the best available but you can't go on brand labels alone as not all media with the same label are made in the same place. The most important factor on finding out if a disc has a reliable dye is the Media ID. Unfortunately this is something not found on the box but quite a few places specializing in media sales are nice enough to provide that information so you can make an informed choice. Once you have that info it is just a case of browsing the net to check other peoples experiences with that particular dye.
