On an old computer I had Microsoft Edge and it came with a means to record the screen at the touch of a button. That machine self destructed and now I have a Chromebook which I like a lot more than previous gear, it seems sensible to me to have more of the machine supplied by one organisation.
I've been looking for a screen recorder on the Chromebook and with some effort I'm learning how to use Screencastify which is top of the recommended applications.
The maximum length of recording (for free) is only 5 minutes but that might be enough for me. If I want to record a shout out at the drop of a hat say.
It's too early to judge Screencastify but there's one thing that I've been able to do with it that I've wanted for some years.
When I watch Fern
(or if you're reading this next week) When I watched Fern
I was always put off by only really watching that top left hand corner of the screen. I'm one of those that likes to watch a pretty face. It's inconvenient too with her because she's so tall she only just fits on the screen.
Here's what we normally see:
I've wanted a way to zoom in on live TV: select a part of the screen, zoom in and blow that up to the full size of the screen.
No matter how I type that requirement in a search box I've not been able to find a programme. Screencastify goes some way towards letting me do that. I can't zoom in on live TV but I can do that on something already recorded and it looks like this:
You'll notice that I've zoomed in excessively, it's going out of focus but the principle seems sound.
It might be that there's programmes that will do all this already but I'll put this up anyway. Obviously it would work for any part of the screen, you could watch boobs or bottoms or feet.
Hope this is of use to someone.
