Thought Lyu Haotian did OK to make the quarters albeit losing to Mark Selby last night. Brecel beaten by Hawkins in a decider was a shame, though.

In the semi finals Judd Trump edged out John Higgins 6-5 in a high quality match.

The second semi final was arguably even higher quality and Barry Hawkins played an exceptional match to beat Mark Selby 6-4.

Barry Hawkins is the champion after holding his nerve to see out a 9-6 triumph over Judd Trump in the final.

A six and a half year wait for a ranking title at an end. The turning point in his career perhaps the failure to qualify for The Crucible earlier this year. A more steely Hawkins seems to have emerged. Could not be happier for him.
