Nicko McBrain retirement

Yesterday (and being ill, I didn't know this - until now)

Saturday 8th December 2024 goes down in the rock annals as the day Nicko McBbrain stepped away from touring duties with Iron Maiden.

A hammer to the heart of every loving metal/rock fans around the world.
For 42 incredible years Nicko has been the driving drum beat for the legend of Iron Maiden.

Over the last few years Nicko, has had several health issues but the big one - the stroke he suffered last year and thankfully made a recovery from but has affected his playing style - so yesterday in Sao Paolo, Brazil -Nicko was onstage with Maiden for the VERY LAST TIME.

I want to wish Nicko all the very best for the future, and say a very BIG 'thank you' to him for all the musical pleasure he has given us. He deserves it.
I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times - once at an Iron Maiden fan club meet & probably once or twice at a Jam Night in a pub In London and can honestly say - I back up what many rock fans have said when they have met him - he is extremely down to earth, very funny and absolute blast to talk to - I even buoght him a pint!! I remember at the meet there were more people around Nicko than the other members, that showed me just how popular Nicko was.
Every now and then I listen back to those "Listen with Nicko' section on those albums and I can't help laughing - but along with his incredbile drumming, those will remain something special to remember Nicko.

He is going to be very hard boots to fill - and to be honest, I can imagine Iron Maiden probably will tske their time with it.
