RE: Russian Invasion Of Ukraine - misinformation thread
(21-05-2022 23:31 )seducedx6 Wrote: Without getting drawn into the specific claims and counter-claims, as someone who mostly taught themself about researching in pre-internet times, when I had to trawl a number of libraries for some things.. the only way to get the best approximation of truth and reality, is by looking at as many sources as possible, and cross-checking them.
Some Wikipedia pages do have that basis, whilst others are more narrowly based, and out of date.
I would hope that any worldly adult, of moderate intelligence, wouldn't presume that BBC, ITV, Guardian, New York Times, Wikipedia etc are completely free of their own corresponding limitations, as claimed about Russia Today.
The last major war in Europe, the Yugoslav one in the 1990s, would be a reference point for that, when different major international powers, and further different factions within them, were supporting different parts of the country, and that was reflected in respective media.
Some more of what I could say here, overlaps with this post from last November, in the Covid thread: https://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.p...pid2633616 which seems to have been read by only one person on the forum, not including the poster that followed, who after reading it, might also benefit from watching the series, 'Pornography: The Secret History of Civilisation', unless they're among a presumed minority on this forum who are hostile to porn..
Addendum: in which case, read this: https://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.p...pid2636223
Not only am I not sure why my quoted post is in this thread.
I'm not sure what is the point of this thread?!
If disagreements are allowed on this forum, then why cobble together a segregated thread of disagreeing posts?!
The point the quoted post starts with, is pertinent across the forum, and far beyond!
If you're making a point that needs to be supported by references, you should be cross-checking as many sources as possible, including those that challenge the point you seek to make.
That counts for points that support a mainstream consensus, no less than those that diverge from it.
Otherwise, misinformation and disinformation is more guaranteed, than a fully open discussion, based on the best information available.

"From one who is not permitted to find fault, [says the peasant representative] praise also is valueless; in absence of expression it is like a Chinese picture in which shade is lacking. I should add (24/12/2023) that I am still more extensively shadowbanned than I've ever been, despite paying for a blue tick for several months, see my pinned thread, profile and header pics

29/10/2024: because of my being locked out of my original account, I'm using seducedx6_live on Twitter/'x', see the pinned thread there.
I'm using a friend's account, midriffique, a tweet from which is already linked above, with whom I did do three-way tag team tweeting, whilst he's taking a longterm break from social media.
