Figured I start a thread about the most British of British Invasion Bands

The Kinks are one of my favorite Bands of all time. Ray Davies as a songwriter really resonated with me. I'm glad my Dad helped get me into the Kinks (his album collection got me into a lot of Classic Rock
It's been tough finding other Kinks fans. They are viewed a lot differently over here. They had success, but also had a 4 Year Ban during a pivotal time of development (65-69 is my favorite era of the band). Also, the subject matter of their songs didn't exactly get Americans excited during the height of Psychedelia. I also think Ray's sarcasm played a role in me having a hard time converting new fans

. It's not like the Kinks had no success over here, they do still warrant a lot of praise for being pioneers for Punk/Hard Rock/Britpop
I wanted to get some perspective from people across the pond.
