Ok fair enough - we should make Simon Cowell put together our entry for next year (before Trump nabs him to help him push for the US to be allowed to enter).

The thing is what global superstar does UK have now , i can't think of any , we need our own Taylor Swift , now i ain't a fan of her music but that is what we need.

There was names i thought i could think of on my brain but they are all Americans.

Ed Sheeran? Adele? Sam Smith?

We tried the "legend" route with Englebert Humperdinck a few years back, that's the level of thinking behind our Eurovision committee.

But out of Ed Sheeran,Adele and Sam Smith are they on the news everyday? , that's what i mean by global superstar.

A modern global superstar would hurt their brand doing Eurovision, they'd be mad to consider it.
Mid tier fame, up and coming acts and occasionally those still chasing fame after being out of the limelight for years is where it's at.

The poor song choices seem to be our biggest issue, it's been what, one really good song in the last decade, that's not good enough, this year could have been a top ten finish if the song was decent, as imo, the performers weren't actually that bad live at all. The fact is, if the song wouldn't stand a chance of charting in multiple countries in Europe, then what's the intention behind it being chosen, makes no bloody sense. lol.

Ed Sheeran has mentioned being a fan of Eurovision several times, but when he considered participating his management wouldn't consider it.

It should be a simple step by step formula to my mind.

1. Write an articulate, well structured song backed up by a catchy tune
2. Match a quality vocalist or group thereof to the song
3. Do a lot of promotion around Europe and beyond several weeks before the contest to get it embedded into the public psyche.

Oh no wait. That's common sense and we can't have that. I'll just go and stand in the corner and give myself a telling off for such an outrageous idea.
