2026 World Cup and Qualifiers

Thomas Tuckel has announced his England squad for the Wembley double header in the qualifiers for the next world cup.

Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford are returning.
And he's given caps to Newcastle's Dan Burns and Arsenal's teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly.

But there's no place for Forest pair Morgan Gibbs White or Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The matches are against Albania and Latvia

It looks a strong enough squad for me butwouldn't be too suprised if injuries play their part this weekend to force Tuchel making changes

Cole Palmer's withdrawn from the qualifiers, so Tuchel's called up Morgan Gibbs-White instead.

We have never lost to Albania but in the past we have struggled to beat them, so I do hope Tuchel puts out a strong team.

I love theSky statistic that Tuchel could pick the most capped teams to have ever played for England.
But if he picked a totally different team then it it would be the least capped England team of all time.

i hope Tuchel will put out a team that is a healthy mix of youth and experience and think the key to victory is whether he will play a back three or back four and suspect he will opt for the latter and we hit the ground running. Very much hope for 3-0 win at least though have to say, Albania probably will frustrate us for parts of the game and hope we can keep undefeated record against them going.

The Tuchel era has started and he was a bit honest after the match with his thoughts.
Listening on the radio it did seem that we didn't put the Albania defence under prrssure enough or we didn't seem to create enough chances to score. We are what - fourth in the world or something? I think when you have that high a ranking in the world supporters expect you to dominate the opposition and we probably did a bit in th first half but we didn't make enough runs down the left side and it seems Foden has comein for a bit of criticism in certain quarters in not doing enough. We still have that problem down the left hand side.

Thoughts?

I've never believed that Dan Burns to be quick enough to be an England defender. He's great in the air but he lacks pace. Mark Guehi is a better option in the centre of the defense with Ezri Konsa.

I'm beginning to wonder if we are lacking the young Michael Owen type of player that can frighten defences at the moment.
