That’s my understanding too. An executive order cannot nullify a law that was passed by Congress and upheld by the Judiciary. But as the head of the executive branch, he does have the ability to influence the law’s execution / enforcement.

That’s not to say he can simply refuse to enforce a law he disagrees with. But simply delaying the law’s implementation doesn’t seem to be wholly beyond the pale.

In any event, it was — imho — a dumb law that had a faint whiff of xenophobia about it. Is TikTok really that much more dangerous than Facebook, Instagram or YouTube?

I would think if it was overturned XI will find a way to retaliate to it.

Yeah, I get that, but I still think there is something a little loopy about a law designed to stop one specific company from harvesting all our data, when there is virtually no privacy law to protect people from every other company which is doing the same thing.

It’s kind of like saying: you can do whatever the hell you like, except be Chinese!

Was quite a speech, but like it or not as SM says - there's not much we van do about it. The Tango Man is in the White House again! I think the crap he comes out with makes Keir Starmer look normal!! Trouble is :- Are the privacy laws that are in place, anywhere in the world these days are even stringent enough to protect our personal data?? I get the feeling that now Trump is in office, I think it emboldens hackers to push his authority to the limit I would think.
Yet one of his first executive orders I belive, is the pardoning of those Jan 6 rioters.
