My hard drive's fucked

I had the same problem earlier this week with my Iomega 500GB i bought a new Iomega 1TB as a backup as the blue led was flickering on the 500 and then the worst happen'd you guessed it, it would not start. So i did a hardrive removal from the case etc completely stripped it and it was def the switch that had gone, after a few tweaks i pushed a small piece of card under the socket where the power switch is located on the circuit board and hay presto got it working again, luckily i have now transferred everything to the 1TB and am using the 500Gb again GOD i had all my babeshows videos and all software etc stored on it.
