Walks Around Britain
Series 3 Ep 6 - 2017 PBS America

Each 22 minute episode features two walks of eight miles or less. Andrew White who is the producer and main presenter has said that he wants the programmes to be distinct from the scenery porn of other walking series:



The two walks on this episode were:

Glen Wyllin
"A walk which takes in part of the miles of closed railway lines on the Isle of Man, before detouring along part of the island's coastal path... oh and there's two beautiful glens along the way too."

Solar System (York to Riccall)
"Just one part of the massive Trans Pennine Trail, this walk between York and the village of Riccall is perfect for children as it is flat throughout... and has the added benefit of having scale models of the Solar System along the way...
And for the railway enthusiasts, there's history as the route was once part of the East Coast Main Line."

The model planets were installed by the University of York and it's a good way of understanding the scale of the solar system. The Earth is less than an inch in diameter and Pluto is over six miles away. The next nearest star would be one and three quarters of the circumference the earth away.
