The Boris Johnson Government looks to me to be almost in a permanent state of ‘campaign mode’, lurching from one short term headline in their client media to the next. When a real problem arises they fall back on creating a new nationalism battle front.

Look at their current Cabinet, stuffed to the brim with no marks and complete idiots who are only there because of their obsequious support for the useless gobshite who is running the country into the ground at a rate of knots.

I detested Thatcher with a passion but could you ever imagine the likes of Patel, Truss, Rabb and Rees-Smug in one of her Cabinets? (Gove is an utter twat, in that he is like cholera in a developing country - you always think the problem has been eradicated, but it’s ugly face soon comes back as insidious as ever; he’d be in or around any Tory Cabinet of any era).

It’s Johnson’s game plan: fill the cabinet with types who know no other PM would ever give them a role, and you guarantee they won’t rise to oust you. Sunak looked like he might at one point, but since his precipitous fall from favour, he’s no longer a threat.

only one i think would be competent is Zahawi mainly cos he actually did an outstanding job with the covid vaccine rollout

but if it came to an election then i think he wouldnt stand a chance an immigrant becoming PM

Ah yes Zahawi the guy who charged for heating his stables on his expenses until he was found out and repaid it. He's got his own problems looming with the teachers unions who are likely to vote for strike action soon.

If Nadhim Zahawi is regarded as on of the more competent contenders we are in trouble.

There's 359 (maybe a couple less today) Tory MP's at Parliament.
Surely there must be someone who's competant, trustworthy and not corrupt.

The size of these losses will cause a few more Tory MP's to look a little nervously at their own chances of survival at the next General Election. Since they had the vote of no confidence Johnson has lost his 2nd ethics advisor, been spread across the front pages with accusations he has tried to get Carrie Antionette a taxpayer funded job which is itself unethical and now lost 2
by-elections. If enough of them start agitating to the 1922 Committee then he may find they will look to change the rules to enable another vote of no confidence.
