Real Time w/Bill Maher
He amusingly didn't tell Chrystia Freeland that he had said that she was a dead cert to win last year's Canadian election. His final bit on gambling was going OK until he concluded it was better suited to funny foreigners than to Americans.

Upfront
Marc Lamont Hill talked to journo Chris Hedges about the first year of Trump 2.0 and just how grim things look for the next 3 (or more) years.

11.4 Back to the Lake District, for a view of Skiddaw mountain, and the tops of Keswick. Charmingly, a sketcher wins for a change.
LAotY 2026
11.5 To the deck of HMS Wellington, another silly gimmicked set-up, with no pods, and only half the wildcards. The paintings are OK, the winner having taken a creative path with her choice of scene.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
Contrasting fake-outrage over Bad Bunny at the Superbowl with posting racist memes. Then a chat with Democrat governor Andy Beshear.

Unspun World
The US fermenting an AIDS crisis in South Africa, the Japanese election, and the non-progress of peace in Gaza.

Do We Really Need The Moon?
A repeat from 2011, as Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock spins the question out for an hour, including much fearmongering about the moon getting either nearer or further away (results: catastrophe either way). Amusingly, there was talk of slapping solar panels around the moon to solve our energy crisis, although it's little surprise this never happened, even as our energy needs now spiral exponentially.

4/4 Lil bit more on books with Kipling and Conrad, but also paintings and more on cinema.

Sfunny, I don't recall either other Wonderland series that needed to drift away from books. That said, I gave it maybe more attention.
Wonderland - The Story of Christmas
Belatedly, a one-off that ran through the gamut from Dickens to Morpurgo, taking in seasonal efforts from other big names like Thomas Hardy, Edith Nesbit and Kenneth Grahame, among others.

Somewhat random repeat from 1976, with His Braggness managing to keep questions somewhat work-related.
A Film 93 Special: Robert Redford
Barry helps the craggy-faced actor-director talk A River Runs Through It, a largely forgotten fly-fishing flick with Brad Pitt. We've got Mortimer & Whitehouse these days anyway. This was the interview where Bob suggests Paul Newman was senile, a harsh (and probably untrue) jest.
Talking Pictures: Robert Redford
I'm somewhat sure I've seen this 2014 edition before, but it still seemed largely fresh. Besides taking a lot from both the above, there was a chat with Parky in 1980. Maybe the film examples meant more to me as I've got older and have more familiarity with the material.

This gem, depicting Martha and Mary Magdalene, ties in the Catholic Church's taste in subject matter, the premise that ivory depicts purity, that before the Portuguese discovered elephants in Africa the ivory came from walruses in Greenland (!), and that hairstyles tell a thousand words.
I found this all more interesting than the previous one, which may bode well given there's 2 more left.
TWIAP: Manet's Lamps
His famous "A Bar at the Folies-Bergere", allowed a trip to the famous venue in question, also a jaunt to Japan because Edison used a certain bamboo in early lightbulbs, and how the central focus on a barmaid reminds us of the workers' struggles in the midst of etc

To the last of this series, with the PB Perry burger, chicken souvlaki, fejuada with beef picanha, which were all fine, and then pease pudding, which was lumpier.

Overall, another enjoyable series from AR, and hopefully he'll get a 2nd series, as there are loads of clubs left to check out.
Adam Richman Eats Italy
1 - Florence
Well, maybe I shouldn't keep expecting follow-up series. Anyway, he ate steak, crepes, stomach and pate to finish.
