They've said on the BBC that Sunderland might not be too keen to declare first as the biggest employer is Nissan who supported Remain whereas Sunderland is thought more likely to vote leave due to its population profile. Newcastle is expected to vote remain as it's had 10's of millions of EU money in the last few years.

While it may be prestigious to be first to declare, really it is best to be really slow and be the very last result, because that could decide the whole thing.

Makes no difference. If it's one extra vote either way then that's the decision. Now if that one extra vote is for Remain what will you think?

In fact the last poll by YouGov forecasts a Remain win by 52% to 48%
