That was precisely my point. Very few managers could manage that. I say this begrudgingly as a Chelsea supporter, but as a lover of football, it is impossible not to admire what Ferguson achieved at Man United or even what Wenger has done with Arsenal. The bragging rights I mentioned were annoying, but deserved.

I'm sure I speak for City fans as well when I say how frustrating it is to hear over and over again from Man U and Arsenal fans that we we 'bought the title'.

We may still have to grin-and-bear-it from Arsenal fans, but it is still hugely gratifying to see the mighty Man U fall off its frugal perch and join the rest of us in the galactico muck.

Many of us United fans have been concerned about the relative under investment in the squad for a number of seasons. It is good to see that put right this summer. I do not think the team will be transformed overnight but I would hope we can be fighting top 4 this season and challenging for the title next season.
Believe me the plastic fans we have annoy the fuck out of me. Sadly that is because of the image that United have around the world. I also know one hell of a lot of passionate and genuine fans who support their team just like any other club. I never expect us to win titles without putting in the effort and if someone beats us to a title or cup then well done to them. All I ask is my team fights and plays their heart out...something that was kind of missing last season.

This has to be one of the slowest deadline days in ages... i'd love it if Falcao failed his medical though.

Lightning fast perhaps, knowledgeable perhaps not. After manager Buck Rodgers comments about him, Raheem Sterling admitted he was confused and had to google 'Ricky Villa' and 'Ricky Gervais' to find out who they were!! Typical footballer...too much money, too few brain cells.

My reaction to most comments by footballers is to briefly feel intellectually superior. But that just makes me feel old

When you think how much was spent in this window W could be seeing a billion pounds spent by clubs sooner rather than later..My worry is that the TV cash could run out before then. And if that happened, I wonder how hard it would be for clubs to sell off the players that they bought at inflated prices...

I just hope that there are enough brain cells working together on the pitch tonight against Norway....the atmosphere for that is going to be different for sure if the crowd is as it is predicted... and post Gerrard/Lampard era & Rooney has to the most senior player on the pitch tonight. If we lose it be a dent in confidence for our first Euro Qualifiers coming up and I think it must be the same for Norway.

why are 1st qualifying games for Euro 2016 being played on a Sunday? Also why are ticket prices being hiked up, e.g £42 pound up from £25 for some of Scotland's home qualifying games.
