RE: UFC
In a report, Duffee said he didnt gas out but got frustrated with Russow. He seemed VERY cut up about the loss. I hope he finds a way to deal with his 1st loss and improve that chin. For such a huge guy, his movement is great.

RE: UFC
Ive never been so excited for a fight in my life as i am for Lesnar vs. Carwin. It truly is a Superfight. I found this article off the internet:

Quote:Brock Lesnar's striking has been better than Shane Carwin's striking since the Couture fight and it has shown, but people seem to overlook this.

I will backup my claims with a few notes from some of their fights.

The first thing I want to look at is the flurry Frank Mir threw at Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin.

Take a look at how Brock and Shane defend against the flurry. Here are some things Shane did wrong and things Brock did differently:
- Shane backed away straight and threw his hands like a maniac with his chin in the air and ended up getting caught with an elbow.

- Brock Lesnar, however, backed up and moved off to the side with his arm out keeping Mir at distance with his shoulder protecting the left side of his face and his right hand protecting the right. He didn't throw like a maniac, he kept his cool, slipping a cross from Mir as he was backing away to the side.

Notice what Carwin throws at Frank Mir as he is rushing in is just a 1-2 over and over and I couldn't stress this enough. When someone sees that Carwin's only offense is the 1-2, it's easily avoidable by a mediocre striker. Take a look at how Frank Mir knows exactly what's coming from Carwin and ducks under the 1-2 before Carwin even throws the 2.

Let me explain the knees that hit Brock Lesnar. If you take a look at the first knee, it's just as Lesnar goes in for the leg of Frank Mir. Everybody knows that when you go for a single or double leg, there is a high chance of you getting kneed in the face. Lesnar ate the shot, backed Mir into the cage and went for the other leg, and the same thing happened. Mir jumped with the knee.

If you look after the second knee, Lesnar still has the presence of mind to pull Mir's leg so that his back is away from the cage. These are small details that are overlooked because he got hit and these two knees made everyone believe that Lesnar has horrible striking.

Carwin has very basic standup (a 1-2 with power behind it), no kicks, no elbows, no mixing of combinations, no moving around, nothing.

I'll present to you some gifs from the Couture fight that show Lesnar doing things that Carwin has never shown us before. People often forget how good Lesnar looked against Couture in the standup, especially in his 3rd UFC fight ever.

Lesnar throws a left hook as he steps to the side, chin down, and slips an overhand counter by Couture.

Couture comes in with an uppercut, Lesnar steps to the side to avoid it (and notice how he digs his chin down, like your supposed to do), throws a left and right hook that lands.

Hands up, chin down, Lesnar showing great reflexes sees Couture coming in and throws a standing elbow that rocks him.

Lesnar throws a left which Couture throws an overhand right to counter, Lesnar rolls his shoulder away from it and answers with an uppercut to the body.

Double jab, then slipping a counter.

Basic head and foot movement that we have never seen Carwin utilize.

Couture comes in with an overhand right, Lesnar shrugs it and counters with an uppercut.

What these prove:
Fact is, these are little details that are completely overlooked when judging Carwin vs Lesnar.

Another important thing to note is that the training camp for Frank Mir was completely a grappling and wrestling based camp. The camp for Shane Carwin is a kickboxing camp and he is bringing in world class kickboxers in to help him prepare. And you know how fast Lesnar improves and learns. I say that even without this camp, Lesnar was still a better striker, but it's often overlooked.

Honestly, I never considered all of the above. But, the big question in this fight is what affect the illness and long long-off will have on Lesnar's performance, as well as his conditioning. There's no doubt that Lesnar absorbs technique and strategy in training quickly and like a sponge. But, how his training camp goes will determine the outcome of this fight. Although Lesnar won't be able to manhandle Carwin, Lesnar is the better wrestler. On the other hand, while Lesnar might have better striking, it only takes one or two power shots from Carwin to finish the fight.

I won't be surprised if Carwin knocks Lesnar out, but at the present time, I have Lesnar finishing the fight or winning a careful decision.

If Lesnar is NOT affected by the lay-off and illness when he enters 116, and he beats Carwin in impressive fashion, then you are very hard pressed to find a Heavyweight in the world that can beat Lesnar at this point; Cain can't manhandle and paddle Lesnar with punches, dos Santos will end up on his back if Lesnar wills it, Rogers and Werdum would crumble to pieces against Lesnar, Overeem would be taken down and beaten senseless, Barnett would actually fight someone with the same (if not higher) skill level of wrestling, and Fedor would have to deal with someone who will stick to a game plan and not gas.

RE: UFC
Id also like to add.

Carwin will definitely be his biggest test, chin wise, to date. If Carwin wins, I expect it to be via knock out. However, I think Lesnar will know how to avoid taking shots from Carwin.

There's no doubt the fight will definitely be close; it's been a long time since we've had a Heavyweight fight this intriguing. This fight is so intriguing, because it is so damn close. Both guys are massive, possess great wrestling backgrounds and have hands the size of lunch boxes. In fact, I'd say the only Heavyweight fight that has ever been as intriguing was/is Fedor vs. Cro Cop.

I don't think its Lesnar's cardio that we have to question; Lesnar proved his cardio with his fights against Couture and Herring. The main reason why Lesnar didn't gas is because he knew how to properly conserve and use his energy. Carwin, on the other hand, has never fought past the first round. If I remember correctly, Mir stated that Carwin was breathing heavy towards the end of their fight. I suspect that Carwin will be the one with cardio issues, not Lesnar.

But, I don't think we'll have to worry about it. I don't see the fight going much past the first two rounds, unless both guys fight extremely conservative.

Chuck has to win this fight or it maybe over for him, he lost 4 of his last 5 fights against top level fighters including 3 ko`s, Dana was quietly hoping he would call it a day, he`s only fighting now because it was gonna be a grudge match with Tito. Franklin is 3-3 in his last 6 his 3 losses to silva,Henderson & Belfort he has 2 ko wins & a UD over Wanderlei, he`s not under much pressure for a big result especially considering he wasn`t supposed to be fighting, having said that if be beats Chuck it may put him in line for a title shot. I think Franklin will be relaxed with a good game plan and may take a UD win.

RE: UFC
What those quotes were saying in cainans post is just some basic boxing work to evade punches, fair play Brock did it well. To be honest before his last 1 or 2 fights i`ve not seen much of Carwin so dont know much about his allround skill, i think Brock may come with his big bull charge from the off to get Carwin to the ground, Carwin will have to time his side step and not stay there and try to sprawl, if he side steps well he will be in line for his 1-2 combo. There is too many if but & maybes with this fight & i haven`t got time to go through them (world cup`s on) but remember Brock has not fought for a year so he may go for a 3 round cardio fight as Carwin may not last that long. remember Rampage was out for a long time & look what happend to him??
