He needs a face to retire him , i don't think it would be very nice for a heel to retire him , storyline or not.

But yeah my guess is still MJF , it's a way to get him back into the title picture knowing he retired a legend and he is there face of AEW.

They’ll fuck it up whatever they do. Do something silly like have him go undefeated for a year beating all their top and upcoming guys, then retire or have someone like Darby, Perry, Garcia or page beat him.
