RE: Cricket Banter
England's women came within 13 runs of what would've been a record 4th innings run-chase, as the last pair played out the remaining 13 balls to hang on for a draw. Credit to Australia for a sporting declaration, when 2 points for a draw would require England to win the 3 remaining ODI's in order to win the Ashes series as Australia are the holders.
A great advert for the game, when generally women's Test Matches are often one-sided, or dull draws. Brilliant batting, bowling, & fielding, with some great catches. The match swung one way, then the other, England looked in charge, with 45 needed from 10 overs, with 7 wickets in hand, but were fortunate to draw in the end.
A world class innings from England's captain Heather Knight, with 168 not out, in an innings that totaled 297. Brunt bowled well throughout, with 5 wickets in the 1st innings, & 8 in the match. Australia's captain Lanning, batted well for 93 & deserved a century. Beth Mooney pulled off 2 amazing catches on the final day, to add to a 2nd innings 63, & showed great bravery playing with a broken jaw.

Maybe what is needed is the fifth day many have been advocating for a while now 'Booms' Great advert as you say, but maybe Englands lack of matches in tests meant that - after a solid start getting into their innings - they maybe went at it like a bull at the T20 gate, when natural batting would have got them there. They didn't force Meg Lanning to have to think too much beyond the orthodox, by manipulating the field, and causing her to make regular bowling changes. In fact all she did was sit - in, and wait for England to hand it to the Aussies, which they duly did. Superb catching from the Baggy Greens though it should be pointed out!
There is a thread for the women's game, and I think they more than deserve it. I would have Elyse Perry and Katherine Brunt in any 'mixed' team in a new york minute btw!!
