Oh utterly charming that-not had a boiled sweet for years.
Did you know that in olden times because ingredients were so scarce sweet makers would adulterate their mixture with Allum, chalk or some other powder, which made them cheaper to make and sell.
Chupa Chups(wrapped sweets) are one of the most popular lollipops in this country but Swizzles of Matlow's dual colour lollies remain the most popular and used to be one of my favourites.
Love Hearts used to have messages on them but some now have emoji symbols and are usually very popular around St Valentine's Day too.

RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia
British toy Action Man was based on the American soldier doll G.I. JOE and we had a rival to Barbie called SINDY but there was also a smaller doll for girls that couldn't afford Barbie called PIPPA. Another doll Mark Strong was also produced, again may have been based on a US doll called BIG JIM(which sounds more like a porn star name ) and he had his own judoboard which he karated in half by having his back pressed-hai ya!
If you ever had a teddy bear you will know how loved and cherished they are. The most well known in this country was by a company called Merrythought and they can go for thousands in really good condition, but the MOST famous was by a German company called STEIFF. You can tell one from the little black button that was sewn into a teddy's ear and if you have one of those(and it doesn't need to be a bear either) it can be worth a heck of a lot of money. I think they were originally called FRIENDS PETS.
Jeremy Clarkson's mother was the first person to invent a Paddington bear toy. One day she was summoned to the house of the author of the books, Michael Bond and she thought she was going to be admonished for stealing his idea BUT far from it, he loved it and gave her the rights to make the bears.
(I must reiterate that unless otherwise stated this all comes from memory, so if I make a mistake please let me know and I will do my best to rectify it)
