UFC 138 8pm ESPN
"Sorry darling but your gonna have to miss the X Factor this week" ~ Mitchell

Cyrille Diabaté v Anthony Perosh
38 & 39 years old. Diabaté 1 of last 15 have gone the distance, Perosh has never been submitted. - Perosh Submission
Terry Etim v Eddie Faaloloto
9 of 11 subs by choke, it's time for Etim to get back to winning ways & take a step up the ladder with an impressive win here against the 2-2 novice. Etim Submission
Thiago Alves v Papy Abedi
French born DR Congo/France/Belgium raised Sweden citizen Papy Adebi 8-0 makes his UFC debut but Alves needs a win or else??? Alves TKO
Brad Pickett v Renan Barão
Pickett 20-5 makes his UFC debut having lost once in his last 11 against Scott Jorgensen at WEC 53. BBJ Barão 26-1, who having lost his first fight by split decision in 2005 has won 26 of his last 27 (1 NC). with 2 fights in the US & 1 in Canada this will be only his 4th outside of Brazil but a BBJ with 12 subs in 26 wins most of which came in Brazil says. Barão Submission
Chris Leben v Mark Muñoz
History in the making with the UFC's first ever 5 found non-title fight taking place.
Mark Muñoz has been going well 11-2 (6-2 UFC) & takes another step up tonight after beating Demian Maia, with his record & the respect he has if he beats Leben he could be calling out some top middleweight fighters & given where the fights taking place I'll give you 1 guess as to who he'll want....

Chris Leben is a fighter in the same position as Martin Kampmann, someone I don't see as a top contender but is a dangerous opponent for any good prospects & I think this is why this fight is happening to test whether or not Mark Muñoz has got what it takes. I think this will be a good fight & Muñoz definitely has what it takes, I would've said a decision win for Muñoz but given it's a five round fight & he's a good wrestler it may be a TKO g'n'p win for him.... Muñoz Decision

RE: UFC
Thought 138 was a brilliant show earlier, enjoyed it immensely. The most i've enjoyed a show for a while, probs a combo of the event taking place at a decent hour and some top performances from all the winners on the main card.

Quality.

Chris Leben v Mark Muñoz - Muñoz Decision Smile

Cyrille Diabaté v Anthony Perosh
I though this was a decent fight given not much happened at times given Diabaté is 9ft tall with a 25inch reach but his strikes early on were some big shots but he didn't follow up on many & you could see Perosh was just biding his time for the takedown & then it was all over.
Terry Etim v Eddie Faaloloto
Here's a game we can play, name things that take longer than 17sec.
Take a shit.
Wipe your arse after a good shit.
Make a cup of tea.
Make a cup of coffee.
Toast some bread.
Have a shave.
Massage yourself.... Ok less than 17sec for some.
Submit your opponent after 19 months out of the UFC octagon with injury

Now thats the way to bounce back after the first loss of your career followed by 19 long months out. Terry Etim is gonna be a massive star this time next year!!!
Thiago Alves v Papy Abedi
Thiago needed this win, although after not making weight first time round again how long he can stay in the welterweight division I'm not too sure. He's a good fighter but his ground game isn't good enough for the middleweights so I don't see him moving up in the UFC from the position he's in now & I'm not quite sure where his position is right now???
Brad Pickett v Renan Barão
I've seen a few Brad Pickett highlights but this was the first time I've seen a full fight & even though he didn't show much of his ground game from the highlights & what people say I think he'll do well in the UFC but tonight his tactics were all wrong, he stood off too far in fear of the takedown & was always having to throw the long swinging shots & was never going to win like that.
Renan Barão looks like a fucking beast with good shots & some mental knees & the speed in which he took Pickett's back should've resulted in a speed ticket. I doubt I'm the first to say this over the last few hours but.... Errr future champion.. Anyone!!!
Chris Leben v Mark Muñoz
This was never gonna go five rounds & even without the cut I think Muñoz would've got a g'n'p win in the next 7.5 minutes as Leben was knacked after the first round.
I can see Mark Muñoz getting anyone of, Alan Belcher, Yoshihiro Akiyama or Yushin Okami again, I don't see him fighting Brian Stann but knowing the UFC I can see a Chael Sonnen v Mark Muñoz number 1 contender fight happening???

As much as I'd like to see some top rank fighters come on the European shows I thought last night was one of if not the best UFC show this side of the pond so far although I'd also agree with gazfc on the coverage, why they have to go to a break when the show is quite clearly still on I don't know, If the US show doesn't have a break then at least make it look like it does instead of coming back halfway through a promo & a look at someone back stage!!!

Bonus awards
Fighters were awarded $70,000 bonuses.

Fight of the Night: Brad Pickett v Renan Barão
Knockout of the Night: Che Mills
Submission of the Night: Terry Etim
A good payday alround for the English, the taxman will be happy Rolleyes

RE: UFC
Munoz is right up there now. The Sonnen fight makes sense. Finally someone who could play Sonnen at his own game and beat him.

Thiago Alves can get a shot at a UFC belt again for me. Welter or Middle. If he wants to persevere and keep cutting, then so be it. He was at 190 lbs late on Friday according to commentary last night. He'd have so much less to worry about fighting up a division and he's still only 28. He's a problem for any fighter in the world.

I don't like to get carried away when i see one of our lads do well in the octagon but i might just let myself this time after Terry Etim's showing last night, what a start to the night that was. Superb. He's in the toughest division in the UFC, so some exciting times ahead i predict.

Do you lads remember me saying that i couldn't see any of the UFC champions with the exception of Velasquez losing their belts any time soon? Well u can now take Dominick Cruz and stick him in beside Cain because Renan Barao is taking that belt at a canter! Any time, any place. Remember, Remember the 5th of November 2011. Renan Barao. A star is born.

Where's TDK? It's the first time he's not fired his predictions in for about a year! Rolleyes

I don't usually post non UFC stuff, but this surely merits it's place on here.

RE: UFC
I thought it 138 was a great card, although disappointed with the main event the rest of the card more than made up for it..

I didnt get any decent pics as my phone was playing up but i did manage these two, to give you an idea of my view...

..as you can see i was just a bit too far away to get a good picture, but the memory of the event will last for a while anyway Tongue

Personal highlights for me were Terry Etims succesful return to the octagon, Brad Picketts entrance...though his exit was disappointing Tongue and
a good win for Thiago Alves...also seeing plenty of British fighters on the card..Che Mills looked very promising in particular.

All in all a great show...and i was there Big Grin ........£8.00 for a burger and chips at the arena was a fucking joke though bladewave annoyed
