I'm surprised you think Kampmann's gonna beat Alves mate... I see an Alves KO victory.

Any clues why we're watching last weeks TUF tonight?

Thiago Alves is just a puncher who goes for it with every shot where as Kampman is decent on the ground & is a technical striker as shown against 'Bedtime'.

I don't know if people know these yet but here they are anyway.

UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida Toronto, Canada December 10
Jon Jones v Lyoto Machida
Frank Mir v Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira
Tito Ortiz v Antônio Rogério Nogueira
Claude Patrick v Brian Ebersole
Mark Hominick v Chan Sung Jung

UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem Vegas December 30
Brock Lesnar v Alistair Overeem
Nate Diaz v Donald Cerrone
Jon Fitch v Johny Hendricks
Vladimir Matyushenko v Alexander Gustafsson

Prelim Ross Pearson v Junior Assunção

UFC 142: Aldo vs Mendes Rio de Janeiro, Brazil January 14
José Aldo v Chad Mendes
Vitor Belfort v Anthony Johnson Big Grin
Thiago Tavares v Sam Stout
Edson Barboza v Terry Etim

UFC 143: St-Pierre vs Diaz Vegas February 4
Georges St-Pierre v Nick Diaz
Erik Koch v Dustin Poirier
Alex Caceres v Edwin Figueroa
Carlos Condit v Josh Koscheck

UFC 144 Saitama, Japan February 26
This event will mark the UFC's first event in Japan since UFC 29.
Yushin Okami v Tim Boetsch
Yoshihiro Akiyama v Jake Shields
Anthony Pettis v Joe Lauzon

Bouts in the works include:
Frankie Edgar v Ben Henderson
Quinton Jackson v Ryan Bader
Cheick Kongo v Mark Hunt

If it all happens then it looks like being a good end to this year & a good start to 2012. Smile

RE: UFC
Alves is more than that mate. He's got skills. I'd put him down as a skillful, explosive, powerful, technical striker, with a decent takedown defense. I think confidence and mindframe are huge for him aswell. A confident, motivated Thiago Alves is a dangerous man. For me, there's another title shot in him.

Can't wait for:

Jon Jones v Lyoto Machida
Brock Lesnar v Alistair Overeem
Edson Barboza v Terry Etim
Georges St-Pierre v Nick Diaz Wink
Carlos Condit v Josh Koscheck

Good times lad, good times. [Image: UFC-Champion-UFC-ultimate-fighting-smile...medium.gif]

Fights I'm most looking forward to:

Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida
Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem
Nate Diaz vs. Donald Cerrone
Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz
Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson

Out of those the fight I want to see the most would be Edgar vs. Henderson, the UFC Lightweight division is superb.

Fights in 2012 I'm looking forward to not on that list:

Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber III
Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II

---
While I enjoyed Henderson vs. Rua, I disagree with the majority who have it as their Fight of the Year. The Fight of the Year for me was Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard at UFC 125. Henderson vs. Rua wasn't the Fight of the Night, I prefered Alvarez vs. Chandler from Bellator which was the second best fight of 2011. Looking at 'net opinion I'm in the minority here!

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!

RE: UFC
I sometimes see epic fights between lesser known fighters but they don't stay in the memory for as long as they should. I've almost forgot about the Henderson vs Guida fight already, but it was an unbelievable contest.

Shogun vs Hendo was special for me because it was two legends going at it from start to finish, it swung one way, then the other...A heart and guts tear up for 5 rounds. Some of the shots that landed in the fight were scary! Both lads kept standing though and fought through it. Immense. Too often big fights like that have been built up and then let everyone down. Thought it was top class.

RE: UFC
What a record that is, he's fought some of the best fighters around in his time.

He's fought:

*Chuck Liddell
*Big Nog
*Randy Couture
*Forrest Griffin
*Chael Sonnen
*Anderson Silva
*Nate Marquardt

He's fought Liddell twice, first he defeated him in round1 via triangle choke at UFC19.He then lost via TKO to Liddell at UFC 54. He took Big Nog the distance and lost the decision in January 2000. He then fought Randy Couture in October 2000 and lost the decision. 3 years later, September 2003 he KO'd Forrest Griffin via head kick. He's fought Chael Sonnen 3 times and won all 3, submitting him twice. SmileyCentral.com He took Anderson Silva the distance in 2004, losing the decision and he lost to Nate Marquardt in 2008 at UFC 81.

All those amazing fights with about a thousand fights in between lol What a legend.
