RE: UFC
UFC 140 Espn 2am

Mark Hominick v Chan-Sung Jung
I think Hominick will get back to winning ways after Jose Aldo brought an end to his 5 fight winning streak. Sung Jung's record isn't great outside of Asia although his twister sub of Leonard Garcia was sweet. - Hominick Decision
Brian Ebersole v Claude Patrick
Claude Patrick's on a 13 fight win streak & only lost 1 of his 15 fights but Brian Ebersole is on a 9 fight win streak of his own & has won 13 of his last 14 so this should be a great fight with the winner making a good step up, who wins though is a tough call as they're 29-9 in sub wins between them although the 9 losses are all Ebersole's, but I think he's got more to offer then Patrick. - Ebersole TKO
Antônio Rogério Nogueira v Tito Ortiz
1 win in 7 going back 5 years for Tito who surely has to be in the very last chance soloon tonight!!! Lil Nog is coming off 2 decision losses to Ryan Bader & Phil Davis after a 7 fight win streak & eventhough Tito has a solid ground game I just don't see him being able to stand with Nogueira who's no slouch on the ground either who could possible end Tito's career with a groundnpound win. - Nogueira Decision
Antônio 'Minotauro' Nogueira v Frank Mir
It's gonna be interesting to see Mir now he's over his obsession with Brock Lesner & he's also coming into this fight after beating both Cro Cop & 'Big Country'. He's still only 32 so still has time on his side & with all the tallent in the world can he start making his was to the top again??? I think the way the UFC work things it would make an interesting number 1 contender fight between Cain Velasquez & Frank Mir.
I can't see Minotauro fighting Junior dos Santos but this fight with Mir should be good as both have a high number of sub wins with Nogueira's 20 out doing Mir's 8 & neither fighter has ever been submitted with only 3 KO's each so this is gonna go the distance. - Nogueira Decision
Jon Jones v Lyoto Machida
Machida's 17-2 but we all know he beat Rampage so effectively it's 17-1. Eventhough he's only giving away 3 inch in hight the legs & arms of Jones are like stretch armstrong but Machida is a BBJ black belt so should be able to match the wrestling of Jones & his 3rd dan black belt in shotokan karate should make him a match up in the stand up so this.... 'On paper' looks interesting given Machida's a former champion aswell.
I don't really know what to say about Jon Jones as I still think he hasn't been tested by a top level fighter who's on his game & I think Lyoto Machida is just that. very very though call this & eventhough Jones will probably win I'll say Machida's karate will slow down the leg advantage of Jones to put him in with a chance of victory. - Machida Decision

I think that's probably the right decision, GNP (although I thought they should have started it with the Evans/Rampage fight last year).

The main event between Jones & Machida tonight looks an interesting one. They both have tricky styles and could cancel each other out for a decision either way. Jones is as short as 1/6, with Machida as big as 4/1, with some bookmakers. Not sure about those odds. Machida can be very unpredictable - he ended the unbeaten run of Rashad Evans, which sticks in my mind when assessing this fight. I wouldn't be too comfortable laying 4/1 about Machida. I think around 2/9 Jones and 11/4 Machida is about right.

I'm here to help - if my help's not appreciated then lotsa luck, gentlemen.

I can see Jones being LHW Champion for years to come mate... Machida's a top class fighter, with a style Jones has never faced before but just think Jones is on a different level from anyone in the division.

I've took Jones to win via KO at 10/11.

Without any spoilers, UFC 140 was a great show. One of the best UFC shows this year. UFC's had a fantastic year.

After two years I've finally given myself an avatar and a signature as well! It's like a bus, you wait for one for ages and two come at once!

Thought it was great aswell mate, some brilliant finishes! Mir's kimura and Jones guillotine choke were straight from the top drawer.

Brian Ebersole v Claude Patrick
Not a great fight & not even a good wrestling match, Claude Patrick didn't look on the level of Ebersole who I think will be around 2 wins away from a big fight. This man is dangerous.
Antônio Rogério Nogueira v Tito Ortiz
This was a good win for Lil Nog although I did think he was in danger of tiring himself out with the groundnpound. I never used to mind Tito when he was always getting shit from the crowed as I respected him as a fighter but just like Wanderlei Silva I think he's tried to squeeze his career by 2 more years than he should have, hopefully he'll get a good send off match up & go out with a win???
Antônio 'Minotauro' Nogueira v Frank Mir
-"It's gonna be interesting to see Mir now he's over his obsession with Brock Lesner".
-"He's still only 32 so still has time on his side & with all the tallent in the world can he start making his was to the top again??? I think the way the UFC work things it would make an interesting number 1 contender fight between Cain Velasquez & Frank Mir".

I didn't expect Mir to win this especially by being the first man to submit Minotauro but the way he did it was class, I've always said a bit of focus & a big win or two & he could easily get back to the top, aslong as he doesn't get too wrapped up with Brock Lesner.
I'm a big fan of Nogueira but he beat himself tonight, he had Mir wobbling & should've pounced on him but allowed himself to be taken down very easily & from then on was never in it. The broken/dislocated shoulder looked nasty. Ouch!!!
Jon Jones v Lyoto Machida
For a round & a bit it looked every inch the technical fight that I thought it would be with both trying to time a good shot to force a breakthrough but just like Nogueira Machida got taken down very easily & the bad cut looks like it either hurt him bad or got to him mentally as he wasn't in the fight for much longer & didn't try to use any BBJ when on the ground.
I still don't know what to say about Jon Jones as he didn't look comfortable with the style of fight he was in up untill Machida made his mistake but hats off to Jones as the standing choke was quality, the guy's looking like he gonna go on an Anderson Silva style run.
Anderson Silva

Jon Jones

Agreed. Mir's submission was one of the nastiest submissions I've ever seen, if not the worst. Brutal man.
