Make them work their way up league 1 ? You're joking I assume, after all those League 2 sides that worked their way to there and all the other clubs further down the pyramid from the Blue square premier to Evo Stick div 2 and beyond.

No, keep Celtic in Scotland. IF they were to then they can start from scratch. Let's see how many of the "worlds best fans" will watch them play Gainsborough away then aye?!bladewave

dont know the sporting and financial reprecutions but cant it work?, id like to see hearts, aberdeen, motherwell have their moment in terms of being able to contest the SPL instead of having to settle for a 'scottish cup final' runners up medal all the time.
Its difficult to do that. If and thats a big if they do enter English football, they must start at the bottom and work themselves up. If you just throw them into League 1, then what happens to one of the teams already in league 1 just say Leyton Orient. It would be unfair if their league 1 status is taken away from them

RE: Scottish Football
So - yesterday Naismith and Whittaker declared themselves free agents and refused to transfer their contracts to the New Club currently trading as Sevco 5088. Charles Green has threatened legal action despite the players being free to walk away under TUPE legislation - although the threat is likely just that, a threat, with no weight behind it.

Last night the Hibernian FC board also released a statement confirming that they will vote no (as was to be expected when Chairman Petrie was one of the first to say that sporting integrity was paramount) which you may read below

Quote:Following a meeting of its Board of Directors, Hibernian FC confirmed that the Club will vote against the transfer of the Rangers share in the SPL to a newco at the General Meeting of SPL clubs on 4 July 2012. This re-affirms the view of the Board that the sporting integrity of the SPL is of paramount importance.

The Board is also acutely aware that in making this decision, Hibernian - like other clubs in the SPL - will suffer collateral financial damage at a time of severe economic hardship and uncertainty. The Board believes it is time for all fair minded supporters to get behind their clubs and to contribute in whatever way they can to the viability of the professional game in Scotland.

I'm glad that my club has made it crystal clear what their intentions are (not that they were ever in doubt). They've also sent a message to the fans urging them to get behind the team in a Rangers free league. Next year Celtic will walk away with the title, but at least the prospect of fighting for Champions League qualifiers and a change in the league's voting structure (making all decisions 8-4 rather than 11-1 which handed power of veto to Rangers and Celtic)

RE: Scottish Football
i think that wont be a rangers club for 2012-13 season. spl wont have them and think sfl wont have them as well. there are talks of reorganising the spl and sfl so that they both are under the same board/organisation.

Season begins in what 6 weeks? No chance a restructuring of Scottish Football could be done in that time.

Anyhow it's now assured that NewCo Rangers will NOT be playing in the SPL next season after 5 clubs have released official statements saying that they will vote No should a vote take place on 4th July as scheduled.

The magic 5 are

Dundee United
Heart of Midlothian
Hibernian
Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Aberdeen

Some people doubt that the new company will even survive 6 more weeks, as it currently has no banking facilities and no revenue stream, all the players who have not already rejected transfer to newco Rangers will have wages due to them, so how is Charles Green going to pay the players?

A criminal investigation into Craig Whyte's takeover of Rangers in May last year has now also been launched by Strathclyde Police. Shit is about to go Nuclear for Rangers.

charles green could try to blaming rbs, natwest or ulster bank.

i said that there are talks of spl and sfl being organised but i did not say this would happen this season. they are only talking about it so it could happen next season, one of the proposal is to have a structure like germany or spain,it is a sensible approach for scotland. you could the premier division (same size) , divsion 1 (slighty larger) regional leagues (north and south or east and west or all 4) feeding to the division 2.
the rangers farce should be used to reform scottish football and its finance it also time for people to stop having ago at them and do something positive for scottish football.

RE: Scottish Football
Rangers football club and it's supporters are an organisation that took Scottish football at the top of the game for granted for too many years.

interestingly it's been pointed out recently that since the birth of the SPL back in 1998 that's overall it's been a disastrous affair and has had a detrimental effect on the Scottish game aswell as the National team as Scotland has not qualified for a major tournment since World Cup 98.

Jim Mclean former manager of Dundee United during the clubs glorious period of the 80's has gone on record that every single player of his deserved every single penny that they earned. Back in his era Dundee United had a very strict pay structure in place with just the bare minimum of a wage should the team lose, barely enough to live on, slightly more for a draw and about 6 times as much for a win. Infact Dundee United players were earning more than they would playing for the old firm so long as they won the games.

Jim Mclean also famously fined his Dundee United team a week's wages despite beating Motherwell 6-1 in the cup for not being entertaining enough. Jim Mclean was allways of the opinion that aswell as win the team had to do it in style to escape his wrath, he was a hard man to please but like Alex Ferguson with Aberdeen had huge success's leaving Celtic and Rangers high and dry on many occasions to form what was nicknamed at the time the New Firm.

Recently Jim Mclean said he can't bring himself to go and watch his beloved team anymore becuase of the alarming decline in the entertainment factor.

What has happned to Rangers has delighted me. I want to see a complete restructure of the game with all the money from the TV deals and so on being equally distributed. I also want to see a change in the voting system and to see a return to the days when you had at least 4 or 5 teams all capable of winning the league.

Who knows next season could bring about a dramatic change of events, and well who's to say that my Dundee United team can't challenge Celtic for the league. It's happened before so it could happen again.
