Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

That's INTERESTING because Malaysian cops have discovered that the runways of 5 airports were loaded into the flight simulator the pilot had at home, 2 of them being in India, 1 in Sri Lanka, 1 was the island of Diego Garcia and 1 was in the MALDIVES.

How far is it from Kuala Lumpur the Maldives? If those reports are substantiated then it would match up the report of a "seismic" event that was reported earlier. So it must be on the ocean floor but surely
any debris would by now be floating on the ocean surface unless it broke up on impact in such a way that no debris could be left and the only other thing that could have caused that if it ditched a great speed

Even if he did head for Palau Langkawi airport surely he could not have been granted permission to land if he didn't turn the transponder back on because as someone said before you can't enter a legal airport without it working. also there are theories that it disappeared into some sort of black hole.

That is correct. It's always possible to avoid radar by flying low. It's interesting that so many countries have said the plane definitely didn't enter their airspace, despite the fact that they must inevitably know that if the plane was flying low enough they wouldn't in reality know if it had really entered their airspace or not.

But even low level flying for a commercial pilot is no mean feat as much as it is for a military pilot. Surely flying at that altitude a plane that size is pretty reckless IMO.

I do now recall remembering an airliner was mistakenly shot down in the 80's/90's and can't remember where and who by!! I know on a LP by a band called Harlow who were around at the time, there is a song that is dedicated to either that tragedy or the Lockerbie one.

The 2 main incidents from around that time were Korean Air 007, shot down by the Russians after it strayed off course and Iran Air Flight 655 which was shot down by the USS Vincennes. The Plane was mistaken for an Iranian Air Force F14....the Vincennes was operating in Iranian waters at the time.

KL to Beijing is around 2700 miles. The plane was well out into the Gulf of Thailand when it turned west off the original flight path so if you knock 500 miles off (a guesstimate) you're left worth 2200 miles plus the reserve.

As far as I know the Malaysians have only said there was enough fuel for the Beijing trip and haven't declared actual figures.

I don't claim to be an expert, but any climbing / descending or meandering around is going to eat into that remaining fuel pretty quickly as the fuel calculations will be based on maximum time at cruise speed & altitude where it's most efficient.
