RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14

Surely England after having similar experiences with Trescothick and Yardy, someone should have taken the decision a lot earlier to leave him at home to recover. I get the impression that they would have done if the tour was elsewhere, but because its the Ashes he was too important for the team. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
Why was it WRONG, WRONG, WRONG? Trott apparently had the same problem last time he toured Australia, yet he averaged 89 in that series. Since the problem is long term and he's been able to manage the condition for several years, why was it WRONG, WRONG, WRONG to pick him now?

Because having watched news reports on this they knew he wasn't showing any signs of improvement in the last few months and had been struggling, I thought they would have learned lessons on what had happened before. In hindsight they realise this now and obviously the professional advice given was wrong. Years ago anyone with stress was laughed at, but, thankfully is taken seriously now.

Certainly not an expert but for what I have heard especially from Marcus T who suffered similar problems to me Snokered post has nailed it. I suspect that Trotty has been suffering from this condition for a number of years and despite the tour of Aussie being probably the toughest od all no way anyone could have predicted it would have got to a stage where he was no longer able to control it. I am sure things will get better the long run for him although it will take time. MT mentioned he is still on meds and still has his bad days.
