Yeah pendulum are cross over, their current work is defo nothing like D'n'B
Respect to them though and hopefully they'll make real D'n'B easier to access as people explore music
One would never guess from my current trends that my original tastes were soft rock as I'm way more in line with urban styles now. Not that I've dropped my roots, just added to them and changed my priorities. Look back 4 years ago and I was a big Sarah Mclachlan/Tori Amos person. Who would expect such a radical shift

I don't even know who I am so you'll forgive me if I ask 'Who the f**k do you think you are?!'

The thing about Ash is that they probably got there far too soon, they had all the talent but they released their first album when they were still in High School for freaks sake!

These guys are still young now and still have the ability to release another great album in five or ten years time, but since they were so good when they first came on the scene there was a huge amount of pressure on them to do even better, perhaps now after some success and failure and being in the business and seeing the good and the bad they can get down to actually making some great music which they are truly capable of rather than trying to just make millions for music bosses who want to create money, not music.

Anyway,

Sometimes - Ash

I think one of the problems innovative young indie/rock bands encounter is that once they've had significant success with a debut album, they then often get a big record company behind them, money is thrown at their next album & production is sleek, all of which often serve to eliminate the raw innovative sound that made their music on that debut so good.

Another thing about that is often the record company will have too much say in musical affairs instead of letting them do their own thing, and because the band being young and inexperienced they'll go along with it since they have been given soo much money and are under contract to a big music label.

As a result, in most cases you will see the album flop and you'll see the band being dropped and the record label will carry on as usual because they can afford to make mistakes, a band cannot make mistakes though, they get one chance and thats that.
