They need to get rid of up to ten players.

One player at the top of their shopping list should be Blackburn defender Chris Samba. He's been holding Blackburn together all session and may want to stop in The Premiership when Blackburn are relegated.

10?! The lack of trophies in the Emirates cabinet isn’t because of a lack of quality in their squad, it’s a mentality issue.

I think they only need a maximum of one more player in each outfield position.
I like the lad Szczesny (sp?), yes he's a bit rough around the edges but that will only improve with more games, and bringing in a new GK will limit the potential of someone who I think could be one of the best in the world in years to come.

At CB, they've been so unlucky with Vermaelen's injury; he's a top class player. And I think bringing in a [preferably English] CB who’s proven in the PL is what they need to partner him, rather than another 'footballing' CB like Koscielny. Someone like Roger Johnson or Gary Cahill would be perfect.

They never replaced Viera and that type of player would do wonders for 'em. Again, Song's a good footballing player, but Wenger has enough of them and isn’t what they need. Perhaps Parker? Especially if the Hammers go down

Finally, and this will be controversial but maybe sell Robin van Persie too. I reckon he's easily in the Top 10 strikers in the world when he's fit, but, his fitness is such a liability for Wenger so I wouldn't blame him if he does actually get rid of him, and bring in another world class striker...off the top of my head, Eto'o, Milito, Forlan etc.

Other than that Wenger just needs to take a few notes from his old pal Fergie in drilling in a winning mentality into his team and they’ll be certs for the league next season.

I loved this article and the one that appeared in today's Mirror. I do feel sorry for Darron Gibson as he's most probably a decent bloke and this must all be very embarrassing for him on a personal level. However, who actually put a gun to his head and forced him to open a Tw@ter account?

He will have done so of his own accord, in an effort to make himself more popular and to enhance his celebrity status etc or whatever all these footballers open Tw@ter accounts for.

I actaually have to suffer watching the likes of him, Jonny Evans, John O'Shit, Michael Carrick, Bebe, Gabriel Obertan etc, none of whom in my opinion are worthy of wearing the shirt. Seeing as many of those who have posted a few honest truths on a public social networking site about the account holder actually contribute to his wages and have the best interests of Manchester United Football Club at heart, I'd say they have every right to express their views on this useless one-trick-pony who has a good long-range shot but next to nothing else in his repertoir.

I don't care for abusing players whilst they're playing in a match as this is counter-productive and affects the team as a whole, but if Darron Gibson, or any other player for that matter, opens up a window of opportunity for fans to communicate with him then he has to be prepared to take the rough with the smooth, doesn't he?

Darron Gibson is shit, full stop, and if
a) it wasn't for the fact it can be construed as a negative United story, and
b) if he wasn't Irish then I doubt you'd have enclosed the mindless idiots quote at the end! It's not like those fans have murdered anyone is it? Now that would've been mindless!

As this is a reply to my post i take it everything you've said is directed at me and an effort to call me out. Just this once i'll take the bait Wink.....

In between the two points i highlighted you made a fair enough arguement. But i never said he wasnt a bad player i just said his own fans should support him and not level that kind of personal abuse his way. Obviously fans are entitled to their opinions and i've been critical of some Liverpool players (Kyrgiakos, Konchesky, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Ngog etc) but i wouldnt abuse them via social networking sites....that's personal choice i suppose.

Now for the first issue i've highlighted. Seems ur still sulking about the PM business from 2 weeks ago now. Build a bridge and get over it for christ's sake Rolleyes. I've gotten over ex-girlfriends in less time Rolleyes

Second point i've underlined is disappointing and it's obviously a thinly veiled cheapshot in reference to Liverpool fans being murderers over what happened at Heysel. It's not your first time referencing that on here either. I'm up for all kinds of banter, i enjoy the craic on here and i keep it tongue-in-cheek. But once again you've used a disaster where lives were lost as a stick to beat me with as a Liverpool fan. Even the other 2 mancs that post on here wouldnt use that as a weapon. It shows there may be a bit of a nasty streak in you.

Now that lindor, in anybodys book, is poor form and it's not me being able to "dish it out but not being able to take it back", as you and mysterious friends thinkWink

Now i aint gonna use this football banter thread to begin a tit-for-tat with you. If you've banter to hit me with then bring itWink i'll embrace itWink. Anything darker or less light-hearted can be brought elsewhere Big Grin

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.

another inspired prediction from you there bigguy01 Wink that was just embarrassing from shalke, if it was'nt for neuer (what a fookin' keeper he his by the way) he will be wasted at bayern munich, it would of been very close to double figures it was that easy for united.

Maybe Manuel Neuer just wants to take the easy option and stay in Germany and collect domestic medals in the long term. Shame really, as he's clearly a lot better than Bundesliga standard and should be looking to ply his trade at one of the clubs in Europe who challenge for the top honours every year. Leaving Schalke will be a step up for him, but I do wish he'd come to Old Trafford, I have to say.

Who u want in the final?

Dunno about Fonzie, but it's only half-time; only scousers start building the Premiership presentation stage after their first throw-in of the seasonWink! But any sane person would prefer to play Real Madrid as, good side as they are, they do look somewhat more vulnerable than Barcelona, and probably more suited to United's own style of play.

Regards the poor form comment Yoda, sorry but I'm a hardened match-goer who just won't stand for snide digs.

I do accept that it's not nice to receive criticism from supporters, but as with the case of Rooney at Upton Park the other week, these people are supposedly there to be shot at and to accept the criticism; if they don't like it they can do what Darron Gibson did and close the site down.

You and I both attract stick; you do, and will continue to do so where I see fit, get it back with interest from myself when I disagree with your point of view sternly enough, and I can expect the same from you and will respond where I feel the need to. Obviously this won't be done via PM as you have shown yourself to be untrustworthy in that respect so it will have to be on here.

Liverpool's history is a stick to beat them with and is obviously an achilles heel of theirs; you don't make the rules as to what goes and what doesn't on here, just as I don't. So might I suggest that if you want to avoid barbed but cryptic criticisms then just refrain from provoking meWink!

The snide digs as you call them were directed at the tw@tters who abused Darron Gibson and not you or anybody else on this forum. The one who called him a "traitor to his country" i would especially call a mindless idiot. Now is there a problem with me being of that opinion??

Lets cut between all the bollocks talk, all your big words and fancy phrases. Basically this has become more than just about football banter with you. It seems you have a problem with me in particular and it is all because your nose has been put out of joint over a post which revealed a part of a PM you sent. So much so that you think you can use the old man utd fan favourite "you're a murderer" insult on me Rolleyes tut tut tut Rolleyes I wasnt even 4 years old when Heysel happened for f**k sake!!!!

EDIT: I'm drawing a line under this conversation now...this problem you have developed has nothing to do with football banter and the other posters here dont need to be reading this rubbish anymore. They come on here for the light-hearted fun. Conversation closed.

Right boys I don't know the full story of the Darron Gibson situation neither in the papers or on here quite simply as I have no interest in it but going on what I've read on this page & considering I'm the one who made this thread & got it opened up again after it was closed down under similar circumstances to the posts on this page I will say that this kind of talk is & will never be tolerated in a Fooball Banter Thread if on nothing else then just the morality of the issue!!!

I know you two have issues with each other as I was part of it but like I said this kind of talk isn't wanted or needed on here so next time if you don't mind keep it to a PM & not public as your only gonna draw others into it & as I've already said these kind of issues you're getting into are personal to some people.

Cheers, Mitchell

My apologies to you mitchell and also to the other contributors on the thread. I already said in a post above that nobody needs to be seeing this on a football banter thread.

What the hell was that from Schalke yesterday? Man United could have had about 6 if it wasn't for their keeper (and a good one he is indeed). Still it was odds on that man united were going to go through anyway.

Still I want manchester united to win it because i want an english club to win the champions league since my team Arsenal got knocked out by those cheats from barcelona.

Good game tonight though........

no one here has mentioned that man city fans were chanting about munich when yaya toure scored in the fa cup.

has yoda said using diasters like heysel, munich, hillsbrough etc in chants or "banter" is disgraceful and should have no place in football.

No worries Master Yoda mate I noticed you said you were drawing a line under it but I thought I'd make the post to stop anyone else getting involved or mentioning anything similar (Although thats already happened... Some people) & also before Skateguy got on the case, & as I might have said before I know someone who was at Hillsborough so I didn't want it going down that road.
