I dont get what the problem is if your getting older and a farmer you just gift it to your offspring 7 years before you pass an no inheritance tax is liable. a farmer usally knows when they str getting to old for the job maybe they dont trust there offspring not to sell it

The advice from tax advisors for farmers, up till now, has been to 'die with their boots on'. Even if only on paper at the end. Some of them likely won't have seven years left. And that's not counting unexpected illnesses and accidents.

Incidentally the farmers brought over 6.5 tonnes of food into London and gave it to the food banks.

However, the farmers are just a diversion, because the government expected them to kick off. The abolition of BPR (business property relief) will affect, and possibly ruin, a lot more businesses. Because of the farmers this seems to have slipped under the radar.

Business activity and confidence is down since the 'budget for no-growth'.
Not to worry though, Starmer can just put the country into administration and bring his new chums at Blackrock in to run it...

RE: Keir Starmer - and his miserable government
Am I right in thinking there is actually a petition calling for anothet General Election already?

Let's be brutally honest:probably compunded Has any Govt since Cameron (Or even before him) has ever actually officially brought an end to austerity in this country? I still feel there are still some effects of the financial crisis in 2008-10 still being felt and COVID added to that mix, then we had succesive Tory Governments since who didn't haveca clue what they should have been doing and did the complete opposite, and now I fear this Starmer Government is heading down that same path - a road to nowhere fast.

I get the feeling the Starmer Budget looks far more insane and on a par with the Truss buddget.

And let's face it thr farmers are the very backbone of this country and the more farms we lose we will escalate any food crisis further.

And On a lighter note it was nice to se Mad Nad on telly on the BBC at the weekend Tongue Tongue Wonder if she is writing her blowjob memoirs? Big Grin

^Another bunch of morons who think they can simply ignore a vote that didn't go their way. Just what the country needs.

^^ The petition can be 30 million signatures, I seem to remember that we use elections to vote for governments in this country. Otherwise we'd have got rid of Boris years ago.

Keir Starmer will only start to worry when he starts to lose lots of bi elections.

Ah democracy, that thing that lumbered us with the Tories for 14 years and Brexit that was oh so successful.
The lack of remorse over the choices being made says a lot about this Labour government, they're delusional if they think non Labour voters are the only ones pissed off by everything they've been doing. Farage and Musk promoting the petition may make it less legitimate, but it's still not a good look, not this soon.

9 people from Antartica have signed that petition (according to the IP addresses of the signatories) as well as 3000 from Australia.
