RE: UFC
Watching the way Rich Franklin set about Wanderlei Silva just reiterated what a classy, smart fighter Franklin is, to be out for over a year & come back to fight a Brazilian in Brazil & all but totally dominate him tells you that even though he turns 38 this year he's still got one last push in him.
He's never been one to talk shit or get himself in trouble, given he's a teacher he knows all about respect, discipline & dedication to succeed. For the last 5 years he's only ever fought at the top end of the UFC. he was champion for over a year & tried to win it back from Anderson Silva which looked a step too far but given the stature of the champion he's not the only one that can say that. His 26-6 record speaks for it's self, he's also never been submitted.
I can see him fighting Michael Bisping or Vitor Belfort (Depending on their fitness) at either UFC 149: Faber vs. Barao July 21 or UFC on Fox: Shogun vs. Vera August 4 with the winner facing the winner of UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II July 7 for a title shot at UFC 153 in Rio on Octoer 13.
Wanderlei Silva on the other hand looks far from the superstar of his Pride days, he's 3-7 in his last 10, 2-5 in the UFC. He never looked in the fight even when he tried to go all out in I think the second round, Franklin was showing he was far from done & thats all Silva had to offer even though he as fighting in Brazil for the first time in 12 years.
Yes he's been a great fighter but in his return to the UFC he's been poor & probably should've retired after his KO loss to Chris Leben a year ago, he just looks like a washed up fighter every time he steps into the octagon & for a man of his nature thats a sorry state for your thousands of fans all over the world to see.
