Finally they've cleared it up, I wonder if the initial other Riggs rumour was true at all, and if so was changed due to the backlash.
I know that more were against than for it, from what I read. Still doesn't change anything for me though, I'm done with it, Lethal Weapon is Riggs first, then Murtaugh, this is now just another cop show and not remotely special.

No more Lethal Weapon cancelled.
