RE: Wrestler/Match Recommendations
Steve Austin
Born : 18/12/64
Pro debut : 30/09/89
WCCW/USWA
After realising that in his own words "Its better to do a few things well than lots of things bad," Austin settled in and had terrific scraps with Chris Adams and Jeff Jarrett. After starving on low pay for 2 years he was signed up by WCW in May of 1991.
WCW
Relieved Bobby Eaton of the TV Title on June 3rd 1991 and went on to hold the WCW version of the belt longer than anyone in history.Lost. and regained the title before mining Paul Heyman's/E Dangerously's Dangerous Alliance,a killer heel faction that was despanded due to politics.Had great matches with Barry Windham,Dustin Rhodes and Sting.Lost the TV title but formed a tandem with Brian Pullman and became one of the hottest teams of the 90s.The duo went on to become 2 time tag team champions and had great matches with every team they encountered including Ric Flair and Arm Anderson and RickySteamboat and Shane Douglas. After The Blondes became victims of more politics, they split and Austin won the US title twice before being fired by Eric Bisxhoff in 1995.Joined ECW.
ECW
Worked only a few matches due to a severe tricep injury but cut some must see promos and recorded a series of scathing skits that were aimed at Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. Was then snapped up by the WWF in December of 1995.
WWF/WWE
The rest is history. On his way to becoming the biggest draw in the history of pro wrestling, Austin was crowned King of the Ring in 1996,won the the I.C belt twice, held the tag team title 4 times, the WWF title 6 times, won the Royal Rumble 3 times and was named RAW superstar of the decade in 2002.Had stellar matches with Bret Hart, The Rock,Triple H,Dude Love,The Undertaker to name some and was part of the legendary feud with Vince MacMahon.Retired from active wrestling in 2003 after finally succumbing to injuries.
