Contador to win - and then to get banned in a few weeks when his court case comes up.

I don't know where you magic pixies came from, but I like your pixie drink!

Contador is certainly the favourite - he was awesome in winning the Giro - but you can never be certain in a race like the Tour. It is farcical that the decision about his alleged drug use won't be taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport until after the Tour. I hope he isn't banned...

I've never seen anything as stupid as the presentation of the riders to the crowds....

It was a return to the Roman arenas.... chariots and all.
Contador was booed..Rolleyes

RE: Tour de France
Looking forward to this.

I might even do a prediction thread for each stage since I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms. Wink Joke.

I bloody love Le Tour. Yeah, yeah, I know all the arguments about doping but my view is innocent until proven guilty. If you don't subscribe to this then you can never take any enjoyment out of sport.

Plus, two wrongs don't make a right but remember when all the footballers were getting cortisone injections and no one blinked an eyelid. So for all those coming on this thread to have a go at the cyclists don't throw stones. Oooh, I'm so masterful. Wink

Looking to my favourite, love Cav but this guy makes the adrenaline flow, Sylvain Chavenal to do his usual, 'of course I can outpace the peleton routine' again.

You have to admire a bloke who thinks he can stare down the onrushing peleton and for all Cav's excellence in the sprints I always admire that 'fuck you, come and get me if you can' attitude of Chavenal. He won the French National last weekend employing the same tactics.

Saying that I like anyone who outwits the peleton

A final note, I will not acknowledge a victory in any stage by anyone who has previously been caught using drugs including David Millar.

It was remarkably OTT way to introduce the team but I suppose it is part of the fanfare of the Tour. What did the Romans ever do for us, eh?Booing Contador was certainly, er, interesting but that's the way it is probably going to be for him in this Tour.

RE: Tour de France
I'm going to go with the Contador is innocent until proven guilty routine. (Through gritted teeth).

But will someone at least attack him this year.

Last year Andy Schleck had a few opportunities to have a go at him but seemed more content that he wouldn't 'blow up' and thus miss out on a podium position.

Sorry, I'd have more respect Andy if you went for it, tried to put him under pressure, failed and didn't finish in the top three.

Suppose all those sponsors Euros/Dollars mean more than trying to win the race.*

* Only an opinion, others may disagree.

Hard to look beyond Contador for Tour win, hopefully Cavendish can win the 'Green Jersey' as well as winning most the stages this year.
