Gerald Harris $75,000, KO of the night v Dave Branch
Brock Lesner $400,000 fight purse + $75,000 submission of the night
Shane Carwin $40,000 fight purse + $40,000 had he won
Leben $43,000 + $43,000 win v Akiyama $45,000 + $25,000 had he won

Great post mitchell thanks. really interesting info.

Im astounded that Leben picked up more than Shane Carwin especially seeing as Carwin was in a title fight...The mind boggles Big Grin

well you need to remember that this is just base rate they legally have to declare, top fighter like lesnar gsp chuck ect get PPV cut on top of this. also UFC is quite well known for giving un-declared back-room bonuses. Carwin recently said he was offered six figures to give up his job turned it down as he likes having other interests away from fighting.

akiyama needs to drop to welter weight, Leben isn't a big middle weight but was noticeably bigger, both had awful cardio.
Grooves up kick on relic was nasty not often you see someone get dropped from one.

RE: UFC
UFC President Dana White has already started pushing the promotion’s next big heavyweight attraction following Brock Lesnar’s second-round submission victory against Shane Carwin at UFC 116 last Saturday in Las Vegas.

Lesnar, who unified the division’s two titles after returning from a yearlong layoff to a severe intestinal disorder, will meet Cain Velasquez next. American Kickboxing Academy’s Velasquez has been quietly waiting in the wings for a title shot since he dismantled former UFC and Pride Fighting Championships champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 110 last February in Sydney, Australia.

White said the bout’s date would be determinant on Lesnar, who’s expecting another child with his wife in a couple of weeks.

“Cain Velasquez doesn’t have that many fights either. Him and Brock are in the same boat. That’s going to be a fun one,” said White. “Both are good wrestlers and a lot of Cain’s game is wrestling. Cain Velasquez is a powerhouse.”

The outspoken UFC president said he was impressed with Lesnar’s daring to try an arm-triangle choke on Carwin in the second round of their bout, which eventually coaxed the Jackson-Wittman trained fighter to tap out.

“Your arms are smoked after (holding that move),” said White. “It was a risky move, but he pulled it off, and it was a ballsy move. Brock showed tonight that he’s evolving and he’s willing to take some chances and to try out some of the s--t he’s learning in the gym.”

White also said that the winner of the Junior dos Santos-Roy Nelson bout, scheduled for UFC 117 on Aug. 7 in Oakland, Calif., would determine the division’s next title challenger following the Lesnar-Velasquez tilt.

In other notes:

• White said he wasn’t convinced that UFC mainstay Chuck Liddell has embraced a move to retirement. White reiterated that he wanted the former light heavyweight champion, who sat cageside on Saturday, to hang up his gloves.

“Chuck’s having a hard time with this thing…You have to understand this guy’s been in this thing longer than me and he loves the sport,” said White.

The UFC president also apologized to Liddell’s camp for accusing them of misadvising him to continue on with a career that has seen three straight knockout losses since September 2008. White said Liddell’s team is looking out for the fighter’s best interests.

• White said “Ultimate Fighter” finalist Stephan Bonnar redeemed himself with a gutsy performance against Krzysztof Soszynski on Saturday.

“I was getting worried that Stephan Bonnar was getting soft there because he knew ‘Uncle Dana’ would always take care of him,” said White.

The UFC president reiterated that Bonnar and “TUF 1” cohort Forrest Griffin would always be taken care of by the promotion, but that either could still get cut as an active fighter after poor showings.

• Ecstatic with UFC 116 as a whole, White said the promotion planned to compensate some of the night’s roster more than their announced performance bonuses: “We’re writing checks, more than what you heard of here tonight.” said White. “Guys are going to get well taken care of. Tonight was the greatest night of fights I’ve ever seen.”

• The UFC said it would return to Australia in 2010, and has its sights set on China, South Korea and India.

• White announced plans to set up a UFC office in mainland China in the coming weeks. White said the company had hired the person to head up the new office on Saturday and that an announcement was forthcoming. The UFC opened an office last May in Toronto and has an existing U.K branch in London, which opened in 2006.

RE: UFC
China & India what the fuck!... I didn't expect India to be mma crazy, then again we are talkin about 'big bucks Dana'.
I'm not a member of any mma forum there's too many members on them all from all over the world, you have to be on them 24/7 just to keep up with what's being said, too many people too many opinions, just dip in now & again. That's why i like that grounnpound has made this thread, there's only about 4/5 regulars + 2/3 others.

RE: UFC
Thanks lads! Quality posts from you as usual Smile
I love the fact that the UFC is going all over the world
It can only be a good thing rite?
Although the worst show ive seen was in Abu Dhabi..
The infamous Anderson Silva show...There was no atmosphere!!!
It's probably because the crowd didnt realy know the fighters or any of their stories and backgrounds n stuff...
I could be wrong tho...
Lets hope they have better shows when they travel to China and India.
You can't beat a good Vegas tear up tho lol

RE: UFC
Its just a shame that not everywhere in the US is available for MMA i.e New York. The fact the ''office arseholes'' and critics who dislike MMA used the recent death of a fighter to ban MMA in their area which is a disgusting tactic imo.

Still, UFC around the world is great. UFC nowadays is great but Bellator and the WEC are also just as good with the events there throwing out nowadays.

RE: UFC
Yeah i agree with you on the atmosphere, it's like that when they come over here as well, they mostly bring a UFC Fight Night style card, fighters who they need to give a fight to to get them in action.
The crowd over here would be the best of the lot if they were over here 3/4 times a year, it would be like being at a football ground or a Hatton fight, i remember the Newcastle or Manchester crowd doin a Mexican wave & the ole ole ole ole chant & thinking this is fuckin embarrassing, even Joe Rogan didn't know what to say.

UFC 105 @ MEN att: 16,693 was mostly all English fighters + Randy, UFC 95 @ O2 Arena att: 13,268 dos Santos then unknown Nate Marquardt, Damian Maia v Chael Sonnen at the time not that well known & main event Diego Sanchez v Joe Stevenson two good fighter but not that well known to fans who just go to see the event, yet look what they took to Abu Duabi 2 title fights + Hughes v Gracie yeah i know that was due to the investment but still takes the piss!!!.

UFC 120 Oct 16 @ O2 Arena Hardy v Carlos Condit + John Hathaway & 4 new English UFC debutants Rob Broughton, Kurt Warburton, Tom Blackledge & Paul Sass who maybe Fighting Bisping who's stock must have fell if he's fighting a Brit debutant no offence to the guy like, also maybe little Nog V Rampage although this could be at UFC 119/121 A-Team promo dependant??? i'd love to see Forrest Griffin on this card as would the atmosphere?.

UFC 121 Nov 13th Germany, Belfort v Silva/Sonnen maybe little Nog v Rampage? i'd love to see Vitor over here again as would the Cage Rage crowd.

Supposedly agreed but not yet officialy confirmed by the UFC, the official UFC dates only go upto UFC 118 at the end of August, so it should be confirmed either way the first week in August after UFC 117 Aug 7th, they normally confirm shows for the next 2/3 months to drum up speculation & publicity, this will take them up to UFC 121 in Germany Vitor Belfort v Silva/Sonnen (UFC 117) also Rampage will know when he's fighting UFC 119/20/21 as the international promo for the A-Team film is not yet done.

It should be a great fight as they both have more or less the same skill/style, although i've not really taken much intrest in Condit so far but i know he's got a good future having stepped up from the WEC.

RE: UFC
read today the Bisping-Akiyama is headlining ufc120 and mir-nog 2 at 119. Both poor headliners to me. Bisping comfortable beat the guy akiyama just lost too, sort of a step back not a bad fight i suppose just not headliner material. Nogs past his prime and just not interested in another fight against mir. Also read that cro-cop wanted a rematch with nog. think that would have been better from a legends who have both gone slightly down hill point of view.
