England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series

England have named a 14 man squad for the 5th Test.Apart from Bresnan who is out with a back injury the rest of the side that won the 4th Test have kept their places along with Tremlett,Finn,Woakes & Kerrigan.

I'd say the attacks got to be Tremlett, Finn, Anderson and Broad. and of the other two you mention I'd go for Kerrigan. I very much hope the wicket at the Oval is a decent one for the occasion.

Michael Carberry has earned a call-up to Englands T20 13 man squad to face Australia

England have now added Joe Root to the squad,he is one of only 3 players that have played in the Test series,the others being Finn & the T20 captain Broad.

I would have thought with the series won and ashes retained the selectors would have taken the opportunity to look at new players for the winter tour. Maybe the T20 series is going to provide them with that opportunity. I think Root will be one name on the list for Australia. I very much hope Finn has sorted out any problems he had earlier on the series.

We can't go easy on the Australians now, with another series to come in the winter. If we give them a chance now which they take it will only give them encouragement for the next series.

Totally agree with the above post, no mercy for the Aussies they would not show us any, completely destroy their morale for the return series. England have no need to blood any new players at this moment in time, they already have Joe Root and Johnny Bairstow yet to fully establish themselves.

Australia have made 2 changes to their side,Khawaja & Bird make way for Faulkner & Starc.Watson will bat at 3 & Haddin will bat one place higher at 6 with Faulkner at 7.

This is just how England's selectors used to select in the mid 1980's .i.e. Chop and change ,then go back to their original choices .Like England in the 80's ,todays Australian team is currently scraping the barrel looking for world class talent they no longer have .They have to take it on the chin for a few more years yet .Like the West Indies found out after dominating world cricket in the late 70s through the 1980's. When their great players retired more or less together ,they became a hard act to follow .It's now Australia's turn for a period of mediocrity.
