Went to Normandy. Came back. Massive hassle.

I’m just landing in London when David Cameron video calls from the international ceremony.

“Er, where are you?” he says. “People are asking.”

“Tell them I had too much on,” I snap.

“Does he realise I’ve got cancer?” says the King, leaning in over his shoulder.

“My son is in court on gun charges,” says Joe Biden, appearing over the other one.

“I’m literally engaged in an existential war for the survival of my people,” says Volodymyr Zelensky, popping up in the middle.

“Whatever,” I say. “I’ve got a pre-record with ITV in which I need to mildly clarify my previous remarks about Labour’s tax plans. So I hope that puts your problems into perspective.”
