A four word post is too large??? Anyway, I followed the instruction and tried again, this time with the following result from the forum:

You have already posted this reply to the specified thread. Please visit the thread to see your reply.

The first message usually occurs if you click the submit post button twice. The second message also indicates that this is apparently what happened, as it tells you that the reply has already been posted.

The third message is an Internet Explorer issue and according to Microsoft can be remedied by clearing down your browser cache/history. If you click the submit button twice it can possibly corrupt the cache.

I have had exactly the same problems has vila , and i am definitely not submitting or clicking the post button twice , it has only happened since i started using the new Internet explorer 9 , also every time i submit a post the post shows up twice on the forum and i am continually having to delete 1 of my identical posts , i have seen recently that other people on this forum have had exactly the same problem with the double posts , this never happens if i use google chrome .

It sounds like a glitch with internet explorer then, in the new version of it presumably.

PS Chrome is better than IE of course, though myself I prefer Opera or Safari.

Nope, I definitely do not click twice.

So how is it that this is the only site that gives me the problem? Especially when most of the sites I visit are much more memory-intensive than this one?

IE9 can't be the problem - I'm still on IE8. The only time I've had an actual double post is when I've been unable to get back to my original draft and have re-composed my reply before having a second try at posting.

See above.

Hmmm . . . I find Google Chrome a pain in the arse to use. The most un-userfriendly interface I could possibly imagine. Each to his own, I guess.

RE: Slow Board & "MyBB SQL Errors"
It could be just a coincidence that my problems first started when i started using IE9 but like i said i have no problems when using Google Chrome (i am using Google Chrome to post this) , in regards to my double posts i keep experiencing when using IE9 i have seen quite a few just lately on various parts of this forum from other members so was assuming that other people may have the same problem .

And why should it occur only during a fairly tightly defined time period (i.e. the time when there are most users logged in)?

RE: Slow Board & "MyBB SQL Errors"
so have you guys have ran ping tests and trace route, turned off all your limewire p2p apps or torrents, disconnected from any live streams and tried connecting.
it could also be down to your ping. if your using a home network especially.
admin can only guess so much from the vague info you have given as that info just tells him theres an error but doesn't specify where it is.

also six months ago we weren't having this problem but then again a certain other site didnt exist.

just for peace of minds sake i would be contacting the server provider and asking them to check the bandwidth allocation to see if usage went down when when chat was moved off site.
also ask them how much bandwidth a single connection takes on average and see if that tallies with the the user/member/guest count this may reveal whether there is a bot attack being used to slow the site at specific times to dissuade users from logging in or guests connecting.
the reason i think it may be a bot rather than a ddos attack is that a bot can be configured to log on as multiple guests so consume bandwidth without actually causing the site to crash and is harder to spot. a ddos attack will just cause every 1 to be disconnected and a server restart is needed.

but if your having problems run the tracert and post your info be sure to remove any personally identifiable data such as your ip b4 you submit it. admin can then put all of them together and pass them on to his service provider to prove he has a problem. they being providers will be able to clean more info as to what the problem is and maybe even resolve it.

https://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.p...#pid813596 check out this post to find out how to do a tracert and submit your results.

Why would any of that affect only this forum and not any other site I visit?

I visit all sorts of sites, most of which are massively graphics-intensive, without any problems other than very occasional difficulty with video streams, caused presumably by my rather slow connection speed.

well for a start it may not be just this site. if you went to any site hosted by admins service host your likely to have problems. as serverboxes often host multiple sites.
it has nothing to do with the gfx intensive websites its how many users are on to the bandwidth allocation there allowed.
so please step of with your argumentative attitude to sum1 thats trying to help you and every 1 else here.
