Quite moving stuff in both halves, even if his entertainer ancestor didn't quite prove the legend he thought it might.

Mark Kermode's Secrets of Cinema 1/5 Rom-Coms

Not my prefered genre but it was still an insightful look at how fantasy and musicals inspired the clichéd montage moments in some of the more famous examples dating back to the screwball comedies of the 30s and 40s to the contemporary standouts.The most interesting category for me was when Kermode looked at the rom-com sub plots in much darker films such as The Fly(1986)and Punch Drunk Love(2002).Great stuff,I'm looking forward to next week's topic of heist movies.

Thought the twist and visual of the finale was great but felt a little disappointed with it.
