RE: NFL 2009/10
With the regular season at the halfway stage I thought I'd stick my neck out and predict the superbowl pairing. The AFC really tough to call with so many good teams, Bengals and Broncos having perhaps surprisingly good seasons and Colts sweeping all before them. Never write of the Steelers and Patriots though and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats back in the Superbowl.
The NFC on the other hand has nowhere near as many contenders, Giants looked a good team early on but have faded badly leaving the Vikes and Saints in contention. Drew Brees may not get as many mentions as Manning and Brady but is having an excellent season and I expect him, if he stays fit, to be leading the Saints out in Florida.
So there we go looks like a Patriots-Saints Superbowl (given my tipping history thats the kiss of death for them two then!)

If only it were true, but I reckon he's holding out for the top job any week nowlaugh
Incidentaly just thought I'd mention Wisconsin-Michigan in Big 10 college football on Eurosport 2 on saturday.

Yea, why would i just settle for being play-caller. Danny Snyder will be ringing me in the next couple of weeks i'm sure of it laugh

As Brummie has predicted the SB pairing i will follow suit and my predictions are:

Colts vs Saints - I think these are the best two teams in the NFL at the moment and can see them definitely being there at seasons end.

I think it is very hard to tell who will be in the superbowl. Usually one of the participants are as expected considering their performances in the regular season, but the other is usually a team that went on a good run in the last month or so and scrape through to the playoffs such as the the steelers, the panthers, the cardinals to name just a few over seasons gone by.

I reckon the patriots or colts will be appearing in the superbowl representing the AFC. As for the NFC, I could easily see that Conference being represented by struggling team at the moment, going on a run and scraping through to the playoffs by the skin off their teeth gaining momentum for the playoffs, and turning more fancied teams over.

With choker Romo as our quarter back Brummie? you have got to be joking!

He may well get us 14-2 but we would still lose the first play off match we play.

Maybe one of the 4-4 teams I am not fully aware of all the standings apart from the cowboys being 6-2 and the redskins being 2-6laugh but giants could well get momentum between now and the play offs and go all the way like they did in 2007 season when they upset the patriots

Huge game for the Steelers tomorrow but after some good wins against the Vikings and then the Broncos confidence is high that they will get their revenge especially if they manage to hold Benson which will be tough. Still don't see them making the Superbowl though as people are saying it will probably come down to the Pats and the Colts and I think the game tomorrow could show a lot. I think the Colts will win with it being in Indy but if the Pats keep it close it will give them confidence in the play-offs as the AFC team will most likely need to go through Indy to make it to Florida

As for the NFC the Saints are still the strong pick and if they get the number 1 seed then playing in the dome during the playoffs will help but you still can't write off an NFC east making a push and the Vikings are still looking strong

Colts vs Saints with two undefeated seasons on the line would be great to watch though

My mid-season prediction for The Superbowl...Vikings and The Steelers,i still think that defence is the key,and these two teams are the best in their respective conferences.

But then again what do i know,i still harbor hopes that my Raiders will finish 9-7 Bounce (we're bound to lose to The Redskins in a shoot-out,field goal shoot-out that is Tongue)

As things are at the moment you would expect the AFC divison to be represented by either Broncos, Patriots, Colts and the NFC to be represented by either Vikings, or Saints. I would bet that the superbowl will have at least one participant in it which wont be one of the previously stated five. One of the participants would have toiled its way on the road all the way through the play offs to the promised land.

I would also be surprised delighted but very surprised if the pesky redskins dont win at least one game against us god fearing cowboysSad

Poolieguy is there a chance we could benefit from your preview analysis on each up coming game? it would be most gratefully receivedSmile

yee-haa Redkins win a game!! I repeat Redskins WIN.
Betts steps up with 100+ yards and Hunter the punter becomes Hunter the QB.
Bring on them cowboys while we're still in the mood. Did I mention the Skins won?
