Saka is the 3rd teenager to start a tournament knockout match for England.

1998 - Michael Owen vs Argentina
2004 - Wayne Rooney vs Portugal
2021 - Bukayo Saka vs Germany

Special credit to Jordan Pickford. He is having a very fine tournament so far. Crucial saves both in the group phase and today.

This was a big win for England in pretty much every tournament they progress by getting results against smaller nations then lose when they come against anyone even near their level.

Now for the first time in decades they can say they have beaten a big nation at an international tournament, the only question is will this be a watershed moment ?
