But would I be right in thinking this will be the third or fourth final Spain would meet Netherlands in a major football final if Nethertlands win?

I saw an interesting thread on Twitter that pointed out a couple of subtle changes made to the whole penalty taking routine designed to ease the pressure on each taker.

E.g. every taker has a “buddy” who walks halfway to the spot with him and is there to meet him after the penalty is taken. The rest of the team no longer interlock arms and form that intimidating “wall of judgement” overseeing every shot. They also tried to have Pickford bring each taker the ball, but the ref put a stop to that.

It’s all meant to minimise the amount of time each player is left alone to get inside his own head. It also makes the whole procedure more of a team endeavour than a solo effort.

This could all be sport psychology bullshit, but hey … here we are
