RE: Porn Filters
Well lets just say that it's not the definitive answer, it may work in some cases but I can assure you that 3 times I've had to phone BT to send a signal to my router.

We're talking about Talktalk, not BT. Pay attention.

RE: Porn Filters
Well seeing as the name of this Thread is called Porn Filters and not talk talk I would have thought my posts would have had some relevance to the subject.

Perhaps you ought to put your spectacles on and take note as to the name of this Thread - Pay attention Rolleyes

RE: Porn Filters
It was made clear in munch's post that he's using Talktalk.

(I'm on talktalk BTW)

He's on Talktalk, so it's therefore Talktalk that we're discussing. My answer to him is correct and I tried it beforehand to make sure I was giving him the correct information.

Yes, that's how Homesafe works, but this is not Homesafe itself as such, but something on their end is clearly blocking the page from loading. Like I said, it's not the first time I've seen it, just never really thought much of it before, but it now makes me wonder if they are playing with something behind the scenes. There has been talk of extending site blocking of adult sites and suchlike, I just wonder if they are pre-empting this by putting something in place already.
Anyhow, all working again now. If I notice it again, I'll try a few other adult sites see if they are affected as well, either that or I'll go fetch my tin foil hat and head for the hills Big Grin

RE: Porn Filters
I'm a Talktalk user and I haven't noticed anything different recently, although I've heard they do trial things without telling anyone.

RE: Porn Filters
@munch1917 There was a routing issue in the UK on saturday which may be why you had problems

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/201...utage.html

If you have a similar problem in the future you should try a traceroute / tracert to see where the blockage is occuring.

Quote:European Union laws voted through yesterday will force internet firms to scrap the porn filters they installed following a Daily Mail campaign.
The new rules make internet service providers treat all online traffic ‘without discrimination, restriction or interference’ – regardless of its content. It means that by the end of next year, filters that require people to opt in if they want to view online pornography will have to be removed.

RE: Porn Filters
^^ According to my understanding of the rules that were passed, that article is complete and utter bullshit. The ruling is nothing at all to do with porn filters, just a typical scare-mongering headline from the Mail.

RE: Porn Filters
Less than a quarter of homes with kids (just 24%) are using Uncle Dave's porn filters. How this breaks down per provider is shown here along with other equally poor stats on the subject:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35120937

Good ole boy Murdoch is pressing on with turning on the filters by default from January however - alongside other dubious tatics aimed at raising the figures arbitrarily and licking the government's ass.

Scantily-clad female presenter induces callers and users to other inactive services from three-walled set in a TV studio. Largely softcore Tease format influenced by standards and strictures of free-to-air TV platform..
