Does anyone know what's happened to BGAFD?

Yes it's flickering back into life again, after being offline for so long - it's been 10 weeks.

BGAFD will return soon...

Yes the upload to a new server's in progress, so it looks like it's just a matter of time until the site is back. I'm sure a lot of people will welcome the return of that unique resource, the BGAFD database of models, complete with all their aliases and the list of films they had starred in.

It's a bit bizarre that they have apparently had to slowly recover the data, following the server problem they had. What happened to the idea of having proper backups that could have seen the site restored within a day or two?

Standard IT industry problem.

1st Question: "Do you back up your system regularly?"
Answer: "Yes we do, every day"

2nd Question: "Have you ever tested you can restore your system from the backup?"
Answer: "Errr, well, we may have...........no".

If you go to the actresses or films pages, it seems to be more or less working (not sure if links are allowed, try googling them). Other areas like forums are still down, and the main homepage gives nothing useful.

I read elsewhere the data had been recovered for egafd, and was being uploaded, could take a fortnight to see progress (why so long I don't know). There was no info on bgafd, as they were run separately, but it looks like both are coming back.

UPDATE : The forums are now back as well, almost fully functional again.

Both sites are looking almost fully restored now. There are one or two things not working, such as the databases search function, but these will presumably be fixed in the next few days. It seems like it's been a massive job to get everything restored and working again.

Always liked the site and I have been a regular visiter for 12 or so years now but I just don't know why the actresses are no longer updated every month like it used to be? I mentioned it on the site and I was told the reason why is because most of the movies these days are online and not actual vhs or dvd? If that is the case why is sister site EGAFD updated every day?
