Pakistan pace bowler Shaheen Afridi will miss the test series due to having had surgery for Apendicitis.

Eighteen year old leg spinner Rehan Ahmed has been called up as an additional member of the England touring party.

^^ I would imagine he'll be used as a net bowler. The bulk of his cricket has been white-ball mainly T20. Just 3 first-class matches, with a 5 wicket haul & a century to his name. A genuine allrounder, highly talented a great fielder as well. A long-term replacement for Rashid, but hopefully someone who can play many more Test Matches than Adil. It wouldn't be a complete shock if McCullum gave him his debut, but it's not going to turn from day one like in India. Pakistan always play teenagers early, but we seem much more reluctant. Hope he gets a go, one of the most exciting prospects we've had for years.

The test series could be pushed back a day due to a viral infection that has swept through the England camp.

Update: Test to start as scheduled without delay as England have advised they are able to field a team.

^^ England named their team yesterday, despite the illness around the camp, however, Foakes is not well enough, meaning Pope will be required to keep wicket, & bat at No.3. Thankfully England have won the toss which should allow Pope some rest before he takes up his keeping duties, as well as giving the players still recovering from illness more time to recover. With Duckett back in the Test side after 6 years, they have the option of another keeper should Pope have any issues with workload during this match. The omission of Foakes gives Jacks his debut, Livingstone also plays his fist Test, after concentrating on white-ball cricket for the past 2 years. England would've liked the extra pace of Wood on these flat tracks, but he is unavailable, as h is still recovering from the hip injury which kept him out of the latter stages of the T20 World Cup.
Pakistan have 4 debutants, 3 of which are bowlers, with the pace of Rauf & Mohammad Ali, legspin of Mahmood. Shakeel is a middle-order batter.
