Post-Turkey overdose update.

As expected, the original HDD is cream crackered. Boo, Hiss etc....

Luckily, I'd kept an old 80Gb laptop hard drive which would be compatible, even if the A1200 in its current state could only see 4Gb of that due to OS limitations. What I didn't keep was my old USB > IDE Cable which would have allowed me to return the drive to "as new" state, fit it in the Amiga & then format & partition it.

As per usual, Amazon came to the rescue, a new cable arrived today and the Amiga is now booting from the "new" Hard Drive with Workbench 3.0 on it. Yay, applause, fireworks etc.

Then comes the next spanner in the works....like classic cars, old computers are uncooperative little buggers.....

While the Floppy Drive will boot the system up with a bootable disk (Workbench, Games etc) it won't recognise a disk if you insert it when everything is up & running. A quick Google says there's a Disk Change Selector switch inside which may need cleaning (or be knackered) so that's the next thing on the target list.

Also on order from the Bay of E is a 4Gb CF card & interface cable which will replace the hard drive completely and be much more reliable than an old spinny disc.

I almost cancelled my Amazon Pre-Order for "The A1200" (Coming soon...in June) but I decided against it. I'll use that as a regular Games Machine and keep the restored Amiga clean as it's been around the family for a long time.
