By the way, if there are 2 men out on the boundary for the hook shot, can the England batsmen realise that hooking might not be a good idea? It's not rocket science, as they say.

Both rapid, have not seen the figures but I would think very similar pace. Johnson has been bowling well and full of confidence a lot more accurately than 3 years ago which is why he has troubled our batsman more. Yes they could just not play hook shoots but that limits the scoring options.
144-5 Bailey out pulling to Broad.

England like to keep their continuity. Despite being hammered in the last two tests all we have changed is to bring in a steady medium pacer on a hard boucy pitch.

Same old team, same toss result, same Australian recovery.
So I'm not hopefully with the result bladewave

England are lacking a strike bowler, none of Finn, Tremlett or Rankin have put their hand up to claim that spot, which is why they have picked the workhorse Bresnan.Broad is our only wicket taking threat, but he needs some help,Stokes is learning his trade at the highest level which isn't ideal.

Stokes is still learn his trade. He's neither an international bowler or batsman.

As we needed to win the match we needed to be positive/ gamble but all we have done is send out the same old team who have failed to compete in the last two matches.
And you have to ask, why have we picked 3 big fast bowler if we aren't going to use them? Onions may have proved to be a better tour selection

Michael Clarke named ICC cricketer of the year but not allowed to captain the team :

ICC's Test team of the year (in batting order):
Alastair Cook (Eng, capt), Cheteshwar Pujara (Ind), Hashim Amla (SA), Michael Clarke (Aus), Michael Hussey (Aus), AB de Villiers (SA), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Ind, wicketkeeper), Graeme Swann (Eng), Dale Steyn (SA), James Anderson (Eng) Vernon Philander (SA). 12th Man: Ravichandran Ashwin (Ind)

Three England, only two Australia.

Tremlett isn't that fast though, on the evidence of the first test. Finn has bowled poorly on this tour and Rankin nearly as bad. I can see why they went for Bresnan, even though he was innocuous yesterday.

England's bowling coach David Saker was highly critical of his bowling unit, saying their lengths were too short. He also sounded unhappy with the non-selection of another tall fast bowler. The cracks are starting to appear in the England camp.

So the current quickies are too short in their length and the other three bowler's bowling form is poor, then we must look for the reason.

Now who is the bowling coach again bladewave
